Just listened to Undr the cosh part 2. What an absolute legend and thoroughly decent bloke. Loved the Frimpong texting story involving Jim O'Brian and the one about Rob Cosluck stealing the FA Cup.
Steele was brilliant. I was shocked at how funny he was. He never seemed that type when we had him as a player. The only thing that disappointed me was there wasn’t many Barnsley stories to say he had 7 years with us but I guess when you’ve been at Man Utd & Panathanaikos that’s probably to be expected. I would’ve loved to have heard his thoughts on the Flitcroft / Mike Politt situation for example
I really like him but there were several points in the podcast where I felt he didn't know how to deal with the mickey taking. Not a criticism at all, seems a top bloke.
There was a point in the interview where he tried to talk about his feelings for the Club that was really touching. He just about got his point across but wasn't helped by the 'banter' that surrounded him. I've never understood why some professional (and ex) footballers seem to see it as a badge of honour to act like a dick - all the time.
It’s not an interview tho is it it’s a podcast, I actually thought it added to the humour and it was pretty obvious they are all mates and didn’t think there was much disrespect to Barnsley all seemed positive to me. Had me howling at points enjoyed both parts really enjoyed his dry humour.
Someone did try to get him to say something derogatory about Barnsley but his reply was, "You'll not get me to say anything bad about Barnsley mate"
Thought he was very articulate with a very positive attitude to life. Bet he'd be good talking to schoolkids.
