Got to be repaid by Summer of 2014 and capped at 8.33 million per Championship club, so in effect each club will need to find nearly 2.5million a year to repay back. Given it’s unlikely any club will recover enough this year it’s more like 3 a year. Could work or could be a sticky plaster/cue lots of clubs just delaying the inevitable.
It wouldn't suprise me if the "owners" didn't use the loan to actually finally complete the agreed purchase of the club from the Crynes.
Don’t know any of the detail but I’m immediately cynical, just because it’s PL. They’re not known for their philanthropy. I’m guessing there will be summat. Preference on player transfers, renegotiated sell on clauses or whatever.
PL isn’t standing the £200m loan to the Championship. They will pay up to £15m to help the EFL secure the £200m loan, so it can lend to Champ clubs interest free - so my guess it looks like the PL will only be paying the interest for the loan (which will come from a 3rd party) and that is the only help given to the Champ clubs from the PL. Over the 3.5 year period to when the loans have to be repaid, it amounts to up to £4.28m per year. Although it’s better then nothing, it’s not as generous as the headline makes out.
