Yeah I’m with you. We’re lucky to have James, unless it’s fitness or a slight injury he should be playing. Comfortably our best player and I don’t like seeing him on the bench. But the manager is way more qualified than I’ll ever be, so I’ll go with his judgement.
Some team that. Premier league experience everywhere. Love the first comment in the replies about five at the back against Barnsley. A Birmingham fan tweeted the same the other night.
As much as I love Matty James, he's only got 60 minutes in him (it seems). I think whilst Kane and Mowatt are doing a job, James is a useful sub to bring on to help see a game out.
I'd definitely have made 2/3 changes tonight. Think we'll need to work very hard and fresh legs would help. They've done nothing wrong but I'd have started James for Mowatt, Frieser for Chaplin and maybe put Palmer in too. Sooner or later the regulars will need a rest imo. Watch them looked as fresh as daisies now tonight!
Less of an issue with the 5 subs rule. Mowatt and Kane did 70 mins on Tuesday and likely be taken off at some point again today.
I would have played James tonight. Against one of the best sides in the league we could have done with his experience.
Yep, and he’s our best defensive midfielder. Kane was very good against Blackburn, is our best set piece taker, but not sure he’s a DM. All three of the goals we conceded this week would’ve been less likely to happen with James on the pitch
To be fair they have had some pretty average results against teams who they should, on paper, be dispatching quite easy. They've drawn at Rotherham and just been beaten at home by Preston. The biggest bollock to date however was a 1-0 loss at wednesday: now that's embarrassing
