I’m his biggest fan but by heck he was poor tonight. Mepham had him in his pocket.

Nowhere near the 6 yard box all night

    Totally agree.

Lost the ball for their second. Rash yellow card for no reason. Snatching at chances. Poor game for himm

    Agreed.

I’m forever praising him but barring that one effort he had which forced a good save, he was way off it tonight.

Have to agree about Cauley's performance today, never got into the game.
I wouldn't mind seeing Simoes get a run in the side.
He's got plenty of pace and he's a goal predator, something we're missing right now.
I'm sure he'd have finished a couple of them chances we missed today.

On to next game at Wycombe, come on you mighty Reds!

Simoes seems to be in the doghouse.

When Palmer came on he looked pretty useful - one of those who might blossom given a run in the team.

Palmer has always looked useful to me when he has came on and before injury last season. Cant see us seeing simoes for a while like you say. Woodrow is unstoppable really.

Faffed with the ball costing us a goal bang on half time and should have been on the end of one of those two great square balls across the box, especially the Brittain one.

It must weigh on his mind that he's on a baron run at scoring from open play.

Not disagreeing with you but Victor was also playing up front & he never got on the end of things , neither did Chaplin come to think of it , bad day at the office for all the front men

He should have earled himself at those 6 yard crosses.

Tonight was a strong argument for why he was good in that number 10 role. Constantly dropping deep or drifting out wide to get the ball, yet never where we needed him in the area. You get the impression we've been working on those drilled balls across the box (as we had 4 of them) and yet he wasn't anywhere near any of them. In fact Anderson, Oduor and Helik were closer on two occasions, and they're defenders.

I thought he did all the graft of a midfielder tonight, and none of the duties of the number 9. And I don't think we can blame the supply too much tonight, because I thought Brittain in particular created plenty.

Bit difficult for Chaplin to get on the end of his own crosses!

He was still our most likely goal source and had our best efforts despite not being at his best. But it’s little surprise and most games he’s been carryimg at least one passenger every game. It’s no wonder he’s frustrated.

When that free kick went to Chaplin, he should've been busting a gut to get into the box, instead, he hung back into a position that was never going to be crossed to and the ball would only have got to him from a poor clearance. It was either a lack of awareness / striker's instinct, energy, or confidence and he was hiding from the ball when it was in wide positions.

Woodrows natural movement is to hang back for the cut back.

Maybe, but in that situation, Chaplin was always going to fire it across goal. Woodrow got himself into a position where it would've been impossible to get the ball to him.

Struber got all sorts of stick on here for playing him as a 10, and not up front. Yet when he lines up up front, he plays as a 10 when we need a striker.
