What are the parking rules in the town centre these days?

I know Morrisons had machines where you could get the parking fee off your bill but I think that's gone? What's the current system?

    Where else is essentially free?

Morrisons is a camera now takes a pic as you go in and leave so you get 2 hours. Can't help with the rest as I rarely venture in these days.

Morrison’s is still free for 2 hours but they have ANPR cameras to monitor
Other than that I don’t think there are any free car parks

So I can park at Morrisons, pop into the town centre for an hour, head back to Morrisons and buy a few things and just drive off without needing any proof of purchase or anything? I always get paranoid that I'm missing a step out and I'm going to get a fine

Yes ST, you can do that, it'll be fine. I do that sometimes i.e. shop at Morrisons then pop into town for a few other things :)

Yes this is where I park if I do have to go in. I tend to park over near the petrol station and cut through there and straight down into town.

Think it's 2 and a half hours at asda too. Often park in there then walk up to town.

I'm too lazy for that, maybe I should start as practice for heading back up to Oakwell!

You can use lidl as a free car park as well. Just buy summat that you'll definitely need anyway (like beer) and then you're ok. I think its two hours. They did have a system for scanning receipts and typing in your car registration at Lidl but I don't think you have to do that anymore.
