We have the chance to go 11 points clear of the drop zone (depending on Derby's result vs Brentford) with a win over Wycombe. We've only played them 6 times, winning twice, drawing 3 and losing just once (our last visit to Adams Park). Our last meeting was our first home victory against Wycombe, and both goals were scored by Cauley Woodrow. After losing their first 8 games, Wycombe have lost just twice in their last 9, although 5 of those have been draws. Their 5 away points have all come in their last 4 away games. All against teams in the bottom half of the table. This will be a stern test, against a team who will be difficult to break down. I think a victory by the odd goal is the likely outcome. 1-0 Woodrow.
Exactly the sort of match we would lose one nil Fingers crossed we will win and we can push on in our quest to be a mid table championship team. Need to win matches like this if so
If we were guaranteed 3 points from our next two games, then I would happily take a loss tonight and a win on Saturday.
If we're wanting to become an established club in this league, we've to be looking at winning every game against the teams below us. I'd be disappointed with any less than 4 points from these two games I reckon. 6 is definitely possible.
I know mate - I do agree with you. I was talking hypothetically of course and this Wednesday we're talking about!
I absolutely agree. Every win and every point is vital and we need to be picking points up at home to teams below us to cut us a bit of slack against the big guns in the league. However, my flippant comment was alluding to the fact that, if we win tonight, I will celebrate with a little fist pump in front of my iPad. Win on Saturday and I can finally have some gloating bragging rights over every Wednesday fan I know. It’s the banter I miss. Me and my lad even miss you and your brother, Mr Archey.
1-1 If they score first, they'll park up in their own half, and it'll be difficult getting through. Saw this when we played them at Adams Park. So it's important we score first to open things up.
I think it will be a tight game, Wycombe ave been playing well without much luck, but we'll edge it by the odd goal. 2-1.
I'm getting uncomfortable flashbacks of when we played Burton at home in 17-18 in Morais' first game. We turned up expecting to win and were 1 down within a minute. I really, really hope the lads have done their homework because Wycombe are a solid, hardworking side who've had some decent results after losing their first 7. We cannot take them for granted. I'd be delighted with the 3 points any which way they come, especially with the Massives away on Saturday where we can basically chalk fxck on the 3 points before kick off.
