Today's ref. Big respect. He didn't buckle. Been there, seen it before plenty of times. The massives were trying hard to get him to fold. Jordan Rhodes and his Tom Daley impersonation. Anyway. Huge win again. I don't care about this noise about how we play etc. Results-based business. We beat them with a goal off the training ground and then a stunning team move. We only conceded to another mistake. I thought we were alright today. Very game, full of fight, but nowhere near our best. I felt we played better against Brentford and Bournemouth. And lost. But that's the point. We look to be making the next step. Progress. As the club always said. We've been brilliant the last year or so. Club gets little to no credit for the good, but absolute hammer for the perceived bad. Up the fùcking Reds. Goodnight.
Growing massively as a team. This time last season these last 4 games would have got 1 or 2 points not 9. Watching avidly with 15 year old son and I've said on numerous occasions this last 10 days: "can't beat physical teams like Birmingham". "Wycombe the sort of team we never beat". "I've been Hillsboro 6 times and never seen us win. Bound to lose, we always do". Hugely happy to be proved wrong 3 times. Are we looking up or down? Always down for me which is illogical as we are 6 from playoffs and 12 from bottom 3. But we should be absolutely comfortable in mid table. Said at start of season my bottom 3 was Wednesday, rovrum and Wycombe. Stand by it 100%. Can we push on? January is massive. Do we believe enough to gamble a little, stick with the status quo or (God forbid) repeat Jan 2017? Will certainly show what the owners want and whether, when we get back into oakwell, we are cheering a playoff push or witnessing the 1st mid table season since about 1889. But, for tonight, let's raise a,glass to what we are currently achieving and the rest can wait. You beautiful, derby winning reds.
"Club gets little to no credit for the good, but absolute hammer for the perceived bad." That statement perfectly sums up exactly how I feel about our club. Well said lad. ps....disagree re Brentford.....showed them far too much respect. That game was there for the winning had we been more aggressive.
Well put. We will see next month how our owners behave which will give us an idea of the rest of the season. They say we don't have to sell but Mowatt I reckon will be sold so we don't lose him for nothing and the Chronicle mentioned interest in Woodrow and Andersen which is probably why we are after another CB when we already play 3 and have another waiting for a chance.
Club does get praise when good, most of the singings from this summer have been praised and righty so. More so, the performances have been praised too. The appointment of big Val has been widely praised. Good, bad, ugly. I love this football club. And today I love it even more. You reds!
Here’s what Tony Clueless had to say about it, courtesy of the BBC. “We switched off twice, the first goal is comical really and then the second goal, it's just a one-two around the corner.” Just a one-two Tony? Not from where I was sitting, I’m afraid. Cross field pass from Mads. Good control and work from Brittain. Nice ball inside, dummy from Cauley, lovely weighted ball from Chappers, good control and cool finish (sorry) from the Fridge. I wonder if perhaps your baseball cap fell down over your eyes at some point, Tony.
Agreed mate, Deluded Pulis. Our second goal yesterday will be one of the best team goals seen this weekend.
Yes Ref was alright, however, how the hell he and his assistant missed their goalkeeper handling outside the area beggars belief
Just before that Styles got elbowed , ref gave a free kick signalling it was for an elbow but didn’t even yellow card their player , very odd , overall though he didn’t do too badly
We've had a lot worse refs - only serious mistake he made was not sending Bannon off - twice after rightly carding him early on he then kept his cards in his pocket for an elbow and also a failed attempt to hack down chaplin? when he played advantage and we scored an offside goal Also think he should have booked Daily Rhodes for the excellently executed forward tumble with pike near the end as well But in general he reffed the game well and gave most fouls the right way The linesman on the far side however..... he needs to go to specsavers giving a goalkick when right in front of him a defender kicked the ball out for a corner well shielded by Victor, and the one with the goalkeeper catching the ball whilst both feed were outside the area . Hard for the ref to overrule him when he was looking along the line.
Agree Bannon should have seen red and he was still chelping at the ref like he was when he received his yellow card.
How many fouls has Rhodes bought against us from refs in the past? I recall him diving to win a free kick from which he scored at Ewood Park one time. I vaguely recollect him doing the same for a penalty. I've seen the incident from Saturday now on the recap, and whilst it's difficult to tell from that, it looks as though there's clear daylight between him and Sollbauer. Credit to the ref for not falling for it, but he should have been booked for simulation.
For handball by keeper it's the position of the ball, not the keepers feet/body. All of the ball has to be over all of the line of the penalty box. Assistant appeared to be in-line and replays weren't conclusive.
