Shouldn’t have played last game really, but EFL wouldn’t give assurances they wouldn’t have been penalised. From what I hear even if theyd said a small fine they would have postponed but didn’t want a points deduction.
Just listened to their CEO. 5 positive tests. Still awaiting 3 more results. Stadium and all academy and training facilities closed until New Year. He said in hindsight they'd do same again on this Tuesday as they didn't find out til yesterday which seems strange. They'll be playing 3-4 times a week in 2021.
I don't blame Sunderland, but can't imagine Wimbledon are very happy with the situation. I'm at a total loss as to the decisions made from everyone in charge in all areas of life. When there's a genuine risk nothing appears to be done, when the risk is very small they crack down on it like a starving hyena.
There's only hospitality that seems to be getting cracked down on. Everything else in life is fine to carry on. Truly mental......
If you member boys and girls, they always used to tell us a couple of years ago they had 3 games in hand ! And they have again
They were exposed to people who were in the midst of a localised Covid outbreak which risked it being brought into their bubble. It shouldn't have been played.
Ok thanks Jay & Helen. I’d doubt playing football outside posses much of a risk of catching COVID. I realise though that our government doesn’t agree with my thoughts, given they do keep banning grass roots football. Still I reckon if I’d been Wimbledon I might have been pleased to face a second 11.
I'm certainly not against grass roots football being played, particularly kids, I just think when there's a confirmed outbreak at a professional club then the sensible option is to postpone the game.
