In my opinion we need to: sell Smidt Miller Thomas buy James or send back (need to see more of Palmer and Kane) or if Mowett leaves. X 2 strikers Centre half Left full back don’t think we will far off 10th if we can tweak a little. And Jacob Brown would’ve been ace in this side/system.
Jacob looked lost the other night for Stoke. Another one chasing the money and likely to see his career nosedive.
You'd send James back? He's head and shoulders above any other midfielder we have. Left-back and a forward should be the priority. I'd imagine we'll bring in a relatively raw centre half as well, probably the lad from Forest Green.
Be great to see us signing players from teams around us in terms of a real statement from the owners.
Sell: Green - If he is back from injury Miller Schmidt Mowatt - If he wont sign a new deal, but ideally he signs a new deal and stays. Bahre Loan out: Thomas Palmer - if we sign a LWB Styles can get much more game time in CM meaning Palmer might not get the minutes he needs. Simoes Sign: LWB RWB for cover James - extend the loan or buy if even remotely possible Striker
Extend James and new contract for Mowatt. Kane and Palmer will still get plenty of opportunities this season, and would benefit from not being thrown in as first choice yet. New left sided centre back New striker with pace and/or good in the air Potentially cover for Brittain, unless there's someone in the u23s that can do that job If offers come in, I'd sell Thomas, Schmidt, Miller, Bahre and Simoes. Doubt the offers will come flooding in though. If we do sign a LWB, then Odour's future at the club would come into question.
That's not his game though is it? He sits, helps break play up, can deliver set pieces and orchestrates through his quality of passing. By doing his job well, he frees Mowatt to be more advanced and score screamers from outside the box.
I'd bring Styles in the middle at that point and I think James' influence may actually be even more crucial. The key question is how many of that trio will still be with us once the window closes.
Arsenal and other Premier league clubs are looking to send young players out. Is Reiss Nelson able to play LWB? I think Man Utd have a young left back as well. Not saying it's the answer, just contributing to the thread. I agree with other posters, Earl's debut for Preston was impressive, one to watch to see how he develops.
I hope we keep Thomas. He’s young and got loads of potential. Don’t think some realise how young he is, just because he’s been around for a while, but he’s younger than Palmer! Think he can become a solid Championship player for us.
