i went to a evening at a stargazing centre, looking at the moon blew my mind through a decent telescope
Wouldnt bother now they are only above the horizon for a couple of hours after dusk - wont be able to see them now
I'd be very surprised to see the rings in binoculars mate. Maybe you'd see a vaguely elongated shape if that. I've certainly never seen anything but a bright dot. I've got a small Dobson reflector, I'll give it a go tonight if conditions allow.
That's what I thought. Had a telescope years ago and I've fancied a new one recently. Only thing is everywhere seems to be sold out and I'm not a fan of ordering big things online as they're a bit of a pain to send back. Hopefully the weather will clear up, not looking great at the moment.
My ex missus mum and dad were well into it, they subscribed to magazines and were in the local astronomy club. They had a telescope in the garden that you punched co-ordinates into and its spun round to find the area. I watched Mars, the moon with all its mountainous areas and Saturn, unbelievable sights.
You can clearly see the moons of Jupiter and Saturn in binoculars though. You might not realise it though as they look just like stars, but if you keep looking over a few nights you'll see that they have moved.
I’m on my Spanish roof terrace with a view of clear skies west and south westerly. No sign of them yet. 1820 my time. Might have to go down and come back in an hour.
