Mine too. But I knew we wouldn't get the penalty and had that hard done to feeling going home. Luckily that feeling totally disappeared during the replay!!

All my games were away games unless we played Luton so Fulham away in early 80s on a Friday night. We lived down south and dad took me. Glyn Riley went in goal after about 7 mins. Pitch was a mess but we still played great football.

A couple stand out for me.

Peterbrough 3 - 4 Barnsley. Butterfield at his peak, we smashed them to go 3-0 up. We then soiled ourselves in typical Tarn fashion before Craig Davies belted one in for pandemonium.

Hull 2 - 3 Barnsley. 2-0 Down in the first half, before we came back superbly. Hayes, Richards and Wright (I think) with the goals in one of our best performances back in the league under Andy Ritchie. Shame he was sacked not too long after.

I'm sure there's more, but they spring to mind quite quickly on a personal level.

That was the game before we hammered Huddersfield- what might have been eh?

Leeds 1-2 Barnsley in April 1990, O'Connell and Archdeacon. 1500 of us in a crowd of over 30000, its still the most electric,. Crackling atmosphere I've been in. And not forgetting the masonry and loose change sent over the wall into the pen behind the away section after the match.

I'm going to try and name 10 where we've actually won. I'll be honest, I'm a bit of a jinx away from home:

    2-1 away at Liverpool 2008
    1-0 away at Wednesday 2009
    4-1 away at Walsall 2000
    2-1 away at Walsall 2006
    3-1 away at Southend 2007
    2-1 away at Preston 2016
3-1 away at Huddersfield 2006 (po)
    2-1 away at Blackpool 2009
    2-0 away at Accrington 2018
    2-0 away at Bradford 2018

I've seen us win at Derby, Tranmere, Sheff Utd and Doncaster too thinking about it.

Beating champions Wigan away on last day 2016 to secure play-off spot.

Red hot day, had a lovely liquid lunch in the sun and our end was packed.

When game started we looked like getting a hiding and went 1 down early on but stemmed the flow and then stepped up a gear, banging four in unanswered including a beauty from Brownhill at our end late on.

We all knew we were going up after that.

And all this despite the Blunts trying to spoil it by losing to our play off place challengers - the mighty Scunthorpe.

    Just a perfect day.

Huddersfield, Championship, 2-2 - I don't think there will ever be a more stressful afternoon than that. 4000 fans all trying to get on 2013 mobile internet to get the score from Selhurst Park.

Liverpool, FA Cup, 1-2 - in with the vile Scousers after having to buy a ticket in their Main Stand from a tout website. "Dis is lyk losing to der fvcking under-nighns team!" Never to be forgotten.

Birmingham, second-tier play-off, 0-4 - more-or-less booking our first-ever trip to Wembley. But getting back to New Street was a task.

Sheffield United, Championship, 2-2 - Daniel Leagueoneovic!

Huddersfield, third tier play-off, 1-3 - in with the home fans again. Lawrence Batley stand. Singing 'yer mum's yer dad, yer dad's yer mum, yer interbred, yer Barnsley scum' because everyone else was. Having to stand up and celebrate their goal. But it all worked out in the end.

Crystal Palace, Championship, lost 3-0 - I had met my South London-based online crush, and we didn't get to the ground until half-time due to some, er, delays. She held my hand throughout the second half, as I spent my time shouting for Simon Davey to resign. It was the season after we had knocked Chelsea, her team, out of the cup, and she was curious as to how that rabble had managed to do it.

Bristol Rovers, League One, lost 2-1 - we got beat and nobody cared.

Preston, Championship, 1-2 - the week after the FA Cup semi-final. Diego Leon's free-kick. We took so many that Preston had to open more of the stand for us. 'Fvck the Cup - we're staying up!'

Stoke, Championship, 0-1 - I recall us being battered all night (either a Monday or a Thursday) and having one shot on target. Ferenczi. It gets further out every time I think about it. Nothing better than a team which has the guts to deny their opponents. It's Barnsley - I don't expect brilliance, but I do expect it to matter, and be taken seriously. Get stuck into them. Try to keep them out. Bodies thrown in front of the ball. And if you can nick a goal out of nothing... fvcking brilliant. Makes all the defeats at Coventry worthwhile, to see them genuinely care, and refuse to buckle.

Man Utd, FA Cup, 1-1 - 10000 of us or something. We all come from Barnsley, we all come from Barnsley!

Yes mate, that’s another of my all time favourites. We got battered for nigh on 80 minutes before the subs turned it around.
Like you say, the atmosphere was unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced one to compare since. It was very sweet to silence them in the end though. Hard work dodging all the missiles coming over the wall after we were locked in for a while too!

-Plymouth March 2007 the Hungarians and disco on fire as we kick started our survival charge on a Tuesday night
-Anfield 97 one nil win on markstedts debut, the best backs against the wall match you’ll ever see a team win!
-Sheff u dec 96 hendries late winner
-Oxford in may 1997 5-1 defeat but who cared?!
-Leeds April 90 doing the double, preventing the champions from going unbeaten at home all season, looking forward to all the Leeds fans at school and watching the bricks come over as an 8 year old while the cops had us kettled inside the ground.
    - Old traff fa cup feb 98 and schmeichels slow mo mistake for hendrie
    - Accrington 2018 great atmosphere
    - Yeovil March 2014 and a 4-1 win in the sun made the trek worthwhile
    - Highbury Oct 97 what are you gonna do, but take a seat and admire. Fantastic weekend despite a 5-0 defeat
    - Feb 2011 v Portsmouth a 1-0 defeat and far too much time on my hands for thinking whilst on the coach Ended up with me Deciding to propose to the missus.

I'll throw in Bradford City away 1978. Clarke had just taken over, it was about the third game of the season. For some reason I stood on the Bradford end. We played them off the park and listening to their fans discuss how good we were was a joy.

One of my favourite away days actually was a draw at Bramall Lane. We battered them for 90 minutes and drew 3-3 thanks to a dodgy header from John Curtis who sold Miller short.

It would have been 99/00 season - one of my favourites. Loved that side under Bassett.

"BRUCE BRUCE BRUCE" Dyer was unplayable that day. Another in my top 10. My first ever trip with the Dove, "stopping for lunch" in Durham and I had a fiver on Ashley Ward to score first and us to win.

    I
I couldn't get a ticket in the away end that night so in my wisdom went in the Lowfields Road home pen next to our fans. It was, shall we say, a bit lively

I think I'd select most of the ones listed in the thread. However, a personal one would be Rotherham United 0 Barnsley 0, August 31st 1968, as this was my first ever away match.
Perhaps another one I'll mention is Workington 1 Barnsley 7, April 1976. John Peachey 3, Peter Price 2, Bobby Doyle & John Saunders got our goals.

You must have been on the same bus as me then. I was with the Dove too, enjoying the same liquid lunch in Durham!

    A couple more for consideration...

    Enfield away, won 3-0
    Hull away, won 5-4

I’d agree with Huddersfield in the playoff second leg, purely for the genuine belief that we’d blown it in the first leg.

One more, because it was my first visit to Wembley, the playoff loss to Ipswich. I couldn’t be upset at losing, because it had been a dream come true to watch the Reds at the home of football. Little did I know we’d be returning so often that they’d change the name to Oakwell South.

Lots on here I was at and had some amazing days out. Maybe not top ten but one that sticks in my mind was Palace away in the premier league season. Travelled down early doors, far too much to drink, balmy summer’s evening and Redfearn scores a worldly from 30 yards.

We were unstoppable that day or at least it felt like that.
