Despite being on a Tuesday. So no free streaming for Reserved+ members. **** the EFL. I will not be paying for that game. If I find another way to watch it, I shall do so unapologetically. I will not pay again.
I hope I can find an illegal stream. Even though I'd be breaking the law, I've decided it's on a non-breaking-the-law day, so I'm absolutely fine with it.
The club need to give out codes to all reserved plus members who paid extra and either foot the bill themselves or take it up with the efl You simply can't advertise something and then rewrite the English calendar in order to extort more money.
It was Barnsley Football Club's wish to have Reds Reserved+ members gain access to every game, home and away. As stated when memberships went on sale. It was something that BFC and a number of other clubs pushed very strongly for. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/tickets/reds-membership-2021/2021-info-membership/plus-benefits/ Sadly, the EFL and its broadcast partners didn't allow that. They allowed a compromise. There has been no false advertising. As the link showed before the memberships went on sale, it was EFL/broadcast partners permitting. The codes are sent to clubs by the EFL/iFollow ahead of each game. They send the exact number required. The club then sends them to fans. So they won't be sending any for the Rotherham game. Therefore there isn't anything the club can do. It's something I personally disagree with and therefore I understand the frustration of those affected.
Bit it was announced that midweek away games were included. You can't then just pretend that a Tuesday is a weekend because it isn't and the constant 'its the efl's fault not ours' is a cop out. What if they decide that every game from now on is now classified as a weekend? Have I paid for sod all? As the people selling the product it's up to the club to sort it not pass the buck onto the efl. What guarantee is there that every future game won't be classed as a weekend game regardless of what day it is? What justification is there for this action? The club has done a fantastic job in many ways this year but its absolutely piss poor to just say 'sorry efl are pretending Tuesday is Saturday there's nowt we can do so you can like it or lump it'. The club should be going back to the efl and arguing that Tuesday isn't Saturday no matter what some jumped up ****** seems to think. That the club has sold tickets based on this false information (presumably we still sold reserved plus tickets after the midweek info came out) and that the efl are acting not only immorally but potentially illegally. I assume it's every single club in the country who's fans are being shafted by this disgusting decision not just ours? Surely you can see why fans think the club should do more here. I didn't buy any product off the efl I bought it off Barnsley football club
https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2020/august/streaming/ So according to the Barnsley fc release we were to be allowed access if the club chose to offer it. If it's not the club's decision then the club needs to get onto the EFL about it. It's not good enough for the club to shrug its shoulders and say "we've done what we can".
I’m sorry buddy but I was only offering up what I know. It’s not a decision I’ve made, nor do I agree with it. I don’t even get the logic. I have no power whatsoever regards the matter, and it is completely out of the club’s hands whether you want to believe that or not. If you want to complain about it, please email the EFL, or the club if you feel it’s the club to blame. Nothing else for me to add I’m afraid. It’s also very late. Take care.
See also here - https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2020/august/streaminginfo/ That's a clear misrepresentation and it's disingenuous to try and suggest that we weren't promised midweek away coverage. It shouldn't be the fans who are left disadvantaged - the club should cover the costs for the fans to watch it and then take it up with the EFL if the EFL misrepresented the position to the club.
No I know that there's nowt you personally can do whitey and of assume that other than communicating the situation it's not really your job to sort out the contractual **** with the EFL at all so I (and I assume everyone else) do appreciate you coming on here to give facts and even your opinion even if it's not what I wanna hear. Don't worry I've emailed the EFL calling them a set of robbing lovely person*s
As I've said to SuperTyke, please take up your grievances on this issue with the EFL, or if you prefer, the club. I've merely tried to put forward what I know. I've better things to do than debate something that as I've said, I agree with you on.
As our contract is with Barnsley FC then my understanding is all complaints should initially be made to them. They should then take it up on behalf of the claimants with their supplier. To say that the club and EFL have been spouting on about not using "pirate" streams and supporting your club during these hard times. I for one will now seriously consider this option. It's very hard to take when clubs continue to pay players extortionate and unrealistic wages and fees. Yet the people who have given their annual contribution to these clubs are now once again second best and have to take it on the chin. If the EFL think they will persuade people to pay again then I suspect many will refuse and use alternate means to watch the game. They may well then continue this practice for other games they may have previously paid for. Denying the clubs this income. Yet another ill thought out plan by the brain dead EFL, but our club should not simply be allowed to wash its hands on the situation. They should fight for what they have clearly promised to reserved plus members.
The club should foot the bill for this one (and I say that as someone who wouldn’t benefit as I don’t have +) and fight for it back off the EFL. I’m not sure how many + members there are but they should get to see the match after putting their trust in BFC and stumping up the money. Call it a Christmas present if you want. The EFL will be telling us home games are actually away next. The 29th isn’t even Christmas or New Year or a bank holiday or anything, it’s just a bog standard Tuesday.
