On their forum they complain we play hoofball, just check out the long ball stat. Also they say that Callum Styles tackle should have been a pen and Herbie`s long throw was a foul throw because he gained an inch, his back leg was off the ground and he didn`t throw the ball from behind his head. Sour losers or what!!
Been sent this by another deluded Town fan, who blamed the ref, the weather and the pitch and the fact that the dressing room was miles away and in a portakabin in the car park. They have become a little delusional after recent success. Not often I’d say this but it’s great living amongst them for the time being!!!
I assume the corners were due to the wind making it difficult to place it and fir the back to stay put? I think it was a foul throwing all honesty but they rarely get blown for and id say the same if it happened against us, bad defending and why weren't they keeping hold of the ball in the final minutes? If they'd had more than 1 shot on target then they could feel a bit more hard done to imo.
Meh. It’s every game (on iFollow and when we used to be allowed into Oakwell) that we see the opposition take corners in this way. While we’re at it, the ref correctly pulled up Styles for a foul throw but allowed them to do the same. And to have their feet beyond the white line every time. Still, they should be beating teams like Barnsley.
I would normally be excited to return to work Monday but we don’t go back for another week. I’m surrounded by them and Leeds fans. I have one colleague who refuses to step in my office because of my BFC themed wall.
!0 shots total 7 (Seven!!!!!) on target??? "Shurely Shome mishtake". This IS profligate Barnsley we are talking about. THat in windy poor conditions too! Have they been working hard in the training ground or something!!
Just out of interest, is it not the case that looked at from an overhead view, some part of the ball must overshadow some part of the line? Because if you think about it, the ball would have to be well within the quadrant for the bottom-most part of the ball to be physically in touch with the ground? I don't know exactly what the law says, but I would have thought the former is the more common-sense interpretation. Beyond that, I've never believed that a gain of three or four inches (only speaking about this particular subject!) makes an ounce of difference, although I've often heard howls of outrage in the Ponty if an opposing player has the ball anywhere near the edge of the quadrant. And while I'm on a roll, VAR and offside. The mischief that the offside rule is meant to prevent is the gaining of an advantage by being positioned behind the last defender. But if it's only an arm, hand, fingernail, etc that is behind the defender then surely no advantage is gained, and the mischief that the rule is designed to circumvent is not present? I'd like to see the interpretation clarified to ensure that only feet could be ruled offside.
Actually if you run a vertical line on the close up on the left hand edge of the ball, a tiny fraction of it appears to be in fact above the outer edge of the painted line. That said, of course every Hudds fan knows the huge increase in the odds of a cross made from the ball being placed half an inch outside the corner quadrant will result in a goal .
The ball only has to be overhanging the quadrant. In all honesty, that image looks as though it's probably half an inch off. But as you say, there's absolutely no benefit of the ball being there, or half an inch further back.
I also thought Kane’s was a foul throw. Styles got (correctly) pulled for a foul throw. Huddersfield then committed three foul throws in quick succession without penalty.
I thought Kane's was a foul throw to be honest. We'd just been pulled up for one just before as well. It's nice to get the rub of the green for once. And let's be honest, we deserved the 3 points. We were camped in their half for 70 minutes. If you watch that last 10 minutes or so back, the ball only comes out of their half maybe 4 times.
So the stats shows that Huddersfield were by far the most likely to hoof the ball. Also look at this.... https://downatthemac.proboards.com/post/2774855/thread We are cloggers yet the stats show we only gave away 7 less fouls.
Huddersfield fans have always felt they were a cut above us. I used to work there in early 80s when we pipped them to promotion from the old 3rd division. It went to a new level after they got their new ground and the two seasons in the Prem now appear to have made their fans very Wednesday esque. Just makes beating them a little sweeter.
