.. still no announcement whether it’s on or not with 1 days’ notice! Whether it’s the EFL or Rotherham the situation has been handled crap, I’m not having that ‘it’s been the bank holiday’ either. Derby and ‘Boro got plenty of notice in advance for there games. They have a squad don’t they? It can be utilised...
Derby weren't given any notice, game was called off 2 hours before kick off they had already arrived. From what I have seen on social media they have been told they have to play
Some sense in those posts. Could well be waiting for further tests. If they returned more positives then it would be off. Also the comment about the EFL not wanting games iff as no room in the schedule for rearranging games.
Agreed. It's sad however how compliant and feeble many have gotten with their acceptance of yet another lockdown to come
Its a football match. Apparently 2 Newcastle players are suffering from long COVID . Health has to come first
Yes it was and someone posted a link to the Rotherham message board. I quoted a comment talking about the posts in that thread on their message board. I agreed with the sensible posts and said it's sad how easily some of them are accepting another lockdown in the future.
I know some will moan about rich people "pushing in" for a vaccine just because they play professional sport, but I reckon elite sports people should be high on the list. Obviously sort out all the vulnerable people first but after that I wouldn't be against anyone who works at a professional sports club being next in line. Sort it so events don't have to be cancelled due to cases and it makes it more likely big crowds will be allowed back to watch.
You are, by a country mile, the most informative COVID poster on here, but I cannot agree with this one. I would sooner healthcare professionals and Brenda on the till at Aldi get the vaccine before a bunch of 20 odd year old super fit athletes.
Elite sportsmen and women vaccinated so a massive crowd of unvaccinated people can watch. I’d surmise you’ve not thought that through have you.
Elite sport is important as it takes the mind off the mundane reality of lockdown for many people....
Yes it's a relief for many people from the garbage of the past year. It's one of the highest paying tax industries too so the sooner they can get back to normal the better.
I don't see the issue with delaying a decision. there aren't any fans and it's 10 miles down the road. it's not like the squad have had to travel to bournemouth. safety first.
Generally I would fully agree, but there is a mental health aspect to consider. I know personally I have really enjoyed the matches and all the pre and post match reading and banter that they generate. It beats into fits all the eye scratching and arguments about whether or not we should be wearing masks, having vaccinations, going down the pub, in or out of lockdown and the interminable US election.
