And you wonder why the frustration has built up over 5 years.

It's not the EU's fault that a single mum from Hartlepool is struggling to make ends meet FFS.

This is where people are thick. The EU disproportionately funded areas like ours, the UK government disproportionately UNDER funded areas like ours. They completely blamed the wrong person and handed full power to those who discriminate against us.

    Exactly.

That's one of the categories. The thick one. They then look for someone to blame, and the easy target is them forriners, so they then make the jump into the other categories.

Look at Manvers. Regenerated using who's money?

    Let’s be really fair.

People who have it hard being attracted to right wing politics isn’t excusable, moving further right won’t benefit those people. So let’s look at the problem from a distance.

when the far right courts these people, it’s up to intelligent fair minded people to offer an alternative, excusing them for being attracted to the politics of hate isn’t the answer. But telling them they’re being lied to doesn’t land well either does it?

As you mentioned them forriners I'd Ike to just mention the wonderful experience I had Christmas day when a show came on TV and I had a parent ranting about how TV 'is full of blackies these days' it was just a few minutes after the rant about how the frenchies are trying to steal our fish

I bet you can't guess which way they voted

Nothing wrong in what your saying but when the left fails to come up with any credible alternative don't be shocked if people move to the right . See the democrats who signed up to NAFTA / destroyed welfare / exploded the prison population then people are shocked when trump types gain power . You could argue Blair destroyed trust in the left in the UK for the sake of gaining power and now we are where we are , not that the EU is a particular left wing ideal anyway .

Yes but ask said mum what the EU has ever done for her and the answer is going to be pretty much zero . I know people always bring up the "road" money when discussing the EU ( dearne valley parkway ) but that was a quarter of a century ago . EU enlargement put paid to that level of investment .

Just because somebody doesn't appreciate or understand what someone has done for them doesn't mean they haven't done things for them

Alright, but apart from the road, the free movement of people, the protection of human/workers' rights, the trade opportunities and the funding for deprived areas what has the EU ever done for us?

Ok , free movement of people . What % of the UK population do you think that benefits ? I'm going to guess large parts of the UK population can't even afford a foreign holiday so I doubt that's something they d find beneficial . Sure you can look at migrant workers and their contribution to British society but you don't need freedom of movement to achieve that .
As for workers protections what protections ? Most UK legislation goes above and beyond EU legislation again making the EU appear redundant .
For your final point ; funding for deprived areas ; as I've stated above this significantly dropped off once the EU enlarged itself as suddenly the north of England wasn't one of the most deprived areas within the EU . Why people even thought that sending money to the EU with the hopes of recieving some back via investment instead of creating political pressure to force the UK government to invest is beyond me but you could argue this is the failure of the left over the last 20 years or so .

I can't answer that because I'm off to work 120 hours this week with no lunch break, sick pay, minimum wage or fair working conditions. Then I'm off to make a delivery in Edinburgh followed by Penzance by Wednesday morning with no rest and no driving hours restrictions.

If only there was someone who championed fair working conditions.

If you have to go all the way back to Blair to blame ‘the left’ you’ve lost. The right have been in charge for the last 10 years and most of the last 50. And during that time the rich have been getting away with fleecing the poor and blaming the ‘other’,

People are attracted to right wing politics because it plays to the least attractive facets of their personality. The fact that the right manipulates in this way isn’t anything to do with a failure of the left. It’s simply a refusal to accept the lessons of the past.

The serious RW players are always there, and there’s always a fan base, and it gets drowned out by the left, because the majority understand the negative consequences. But then the lessons of the past get older, and the easily influenced are attracted so the RW gain traction.

it took 75 years for the population at large to forget the dangers of Nationalism.

You chose to ignore the rest of what he put, he is right about the free movement of people it benefits hardly any UK nationals.

To be honest, the rest of what he put was absolute drivel - it wasn't really worth the time. And unless you're in the "them forriners taking our jobs" camp, what you've written is truly incorrect also.

Since 1979 the "left" have been in power for 13 years. That's it. Yet he still blamed "them". It's embarrassing to do so.

Because they d come anyway . You don't need EU freedom of movement . Western European secularism is rather popular for many a potential European immigrant , especially eastern Europe .

Well you could have a system like Australia have and alot of skilled UK workers i know have moved for working holidays and permanently there. You can't just jump on a plane and they actually check things like your criminal record your qualifications etc before you are approved entry.
