I actually enjoyed it - can cope with a bit of support for their own team and I liked the obscure stuff - Breckin is from old school and I like that
For me he only came across as old school when decisions went their way. Any sort of contact on any of their players, and he’s giving it ‘that’s a free kick’ and ‘you’re not allowed to do that in the modern game’. I didn’t rate him at all.
Yeah was thinking the same recently. We seem to do it so much better than other clubs. I like the addition of the extra pitchside commentator for home games this season. Think they've taken it up a level commentary wise.
It turned in to an episode of all request Friday. They spent have the time reading out birthday requests rather than talking about the match.
I was listening to Rotherham commentary and it was doing my head in. I realised I had it on home comm and switched it to ours. If there was only one comm available I would expect it to be impartial but as there’s an home and away comm then they can ge as bias as they want
Anyone any thoughts about Callum Cooper I find him very knowledgeable, younger take on things and just a slight bias
I mute any commentary watching Barnsley from the 79th to 96th minute. Radio wise: The number of times I've heard our praises being sung from Derek Parker or his co commentator only for us to **** up I've lost count of. The worst were the last minute draw at Preston in 2001 and the late show away at Norwich.
I like Goodison speaks well with his obvious knowledge of the game .. Some of the others are just woeful.. even annoying tbh...
I enjoy listening to Matt and the rest of the commentary team. Young Callum is definitely an excellent contributor. I believe we're very fortunate to have who we have and they add to my enjoyment of the matches. Long may it continue with these lads behind the mike.
Definitely agree about the pitch side commentary from Callum as well. Really professional. They’re obviously putting a lot of thought into what it is to be a good commentary team. Chapeau.
Of course Matt is a bit biased - compare his reaction when we score to when the opposition score - he is a Barnsley fan after all. But I think he does a great job - I dont want a neutral commentator on the Barnsley stream, I wouldn't want someone extremely biased either I think he gets it about right. We usually have good comments from the assistant - eg Wayne Goodison but others seem to do a good job as well The Deedar commentators dont have the same passion and talking of bias the last game they commentated on the sidekick was doing my head in with his one man crusade against Victor Yes Matt makes mistakes but so what its not like the players dont ever make mistakes either
In my opinion, Matt is an excellent commentator - a Barnsley fan who is also fair & balanced. Wayne is a star with his analyses & Callum does a fine job. Remember, the last few months have been lousy for Matt!
