It's in their local press so at least it's probably got some truth in it.... https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/ipswich-town-interest-in-barnsley-winger-6876764 I looked on their forum to see what they think and had to laugh at the newest post from Hipsterectomy https://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/494318/ipswich-looking-at-luke-thomas-(andy-warren)/#8
He,s a bit of an enigma thomas int he, he comes on and at times looks really dangerous then the next minute he,s running down blind allies and giving the ball away, i do think he could do a job in league 1 though..
Would do him some good going out in loan I reckon. There's a player in there I'm sure, and regular starts might do him some good. Still only a young lad.
He seems to have plenty of suitors for a loan deal to League One, which indicates that Ismael and his agent have been in discussions about the loan deal.I am a bit surprised, as he has got game-time in most matches this season, so it seems odd that we want to loan him out. I am not sure that he quite fits our current formation. He would be best fit at right, or left wing-back, but we have reasonable cover in those positions. The youtube compendium does him fair credit. I have always liked Luke and see him as a player with a lot of potential - plays the game on the front foot; always a dynamo in midfield, creating space and assisting other forwards; some sublime skills on the ball; gets the team rolling forwards. However, he has looked a bit lost in the current formation and, as we only need four in midfield now, as opposed to five mostly with Struber, I can see why releasing a midfielder would work for us. A win-win if he gets ninety minutes regularly and finds a team in which he has a role fitting his talents. Not sure which of the linked teams would be best for him: Sunderland under Johnson's coaching could work; Oxford not looking great at the moment, but nearer Cheltenham where he is from; Ipswich having a struggle, but he might be just the player to transform them into a promotion team.
Agreed. He needs to improve his decision making. He's got skill & is still young. I think Struber's system didn't suit him & set his development back. Games in L1 may get him back on course & if his wages are largely covered it makes space for others. Just don't sell him to Luton, as they'll show he's a world beater.
Good option in League One. I think he's had enough chances with us and hasn't fulfilled his potential although he works really hard for the team. He may come back a better player and it looks a good deal for all right now.
Great news if he goes on loan as that means we must be bringing someone new in for the front 3. Up to now he’s not been good enough, needs games to either improve or put himself in the shop window
I don't see the point in breaking up this squad to save on the wage bill. Especially the way things are with the 'vid Invest a bit now and mebbies we can have a tilt at the play offs. Though, after the fixtures we have in January I reckon that may evaporate too. Norwich could be VI's watershed moment
Hopefully a new striker coming in as a result. Would be keen to get rid of Bahre & Schmidt, if we can. A loan move for Thomas does not mean we have written him off. Let's see how he does on L1, playing regularly.
All well and good some players going out on loan, but at some point, some of them will have to leave permanently. At the moment we have Woodrow, Chaplin, Frieser, Adeboyejo, Thomas, Miller, Schmidt, Simoes, Aitchison, Bramall and Marsh signed up on pro contracts. It's too many, mainly a consequence of a spread bet approach of signing a lot of 19-21 year olds that the club had in 2019. And we're on about signing another. If this striker from Norwich signs, I just hope he's better than at least 7 or 8 of the above.
To leave permanently for me Simoes Schmidt Miller Green Bahre Thomas (loan) That would give us scope to bring around 3 first team squad players in
I'd get rid of Chaplin, Frieser, Thomas, Miller, Schmidt, Simoes, Aitchison and Marsh. I'd keep Adeboyejo and Bramall though. Bring in a couple of quality strikers to support Woodrow who can play the system.
Haven't seen anything of Aitchison or Marsh to be able to comment. Don't even know what sort of players they are. I think Schmidt, Miller and Simoes all have potential to do well at other clubs, but the longer they stay here, the worse it will be for their careers. Maybe add Thomas to that list. Think Chaplin and Frieser would be decent options off the bench if we brought players in, particularly while there are 5 subs.
