Mightily recommend. He’s a bit shady about his childhood in Ireland & tells Bobby Gillespie to shurrup. But so beautifully made. I think Julien Temple has finally made amends for Rock n Roll Swindle..
What I don’t get is how a posh boy who attended public schools in southern England from the age of six has this thick Irish accent. It must be an affectation?
He doesn't appear to have a thick Irish accent though. His accent is all over the place. Sounds Irish at times, southern at others and sometimes just incomprehensible.
He doesn’t really, though. Maybe when he sings. He only went to one posh School in Westminster. & was expelled after 2 years for selling drugs..
I knew him a bit, few years back when he was living at the Boogaloo pub in Highgate. He’s not as damaged as he makes out, not then at least. We had some good chats about Buster Keaton & other crap. & he used to come see the Kusworth band, when I was on guitar. All I remember is a proper gent. Very intelligent & so gracious to the kids who would approach him. & the stories of him putting £20 notes into pockets of sleeping homeless people, I know to be true.. not that Shane would ever talk about stuff like that.. the IRA stuff will upset a lot of people. he does present a very reasonable argument, but doesn’t condemn the extremism. Which saddens me a bit..
The scenes with Johnny Depp are so funny. Shane just takes the piss.. Johnny Depp was drinking in North London, I think & boy got the most expensive bottle of wine £17,000. ******. I used to like him. Talented boy, once.
