    With the Tykester asking for advice on extracting a tooth reminded me of a mate of mine who was
    in agony with a rotten tooth and asked me to take him to our local dentist for treatment.

    In an attempt to deal with the pain he'd been taking painkillers and drinking whisky all day, to such an extent,
    that the dentist considered it risky to give him more drugs. My mate was a real hard nut re- ex Para/SAS,
    so he told the dentist to proceed with the extraction without giving him anything.

    The dentist eventually managed to pull the tooth despite my mate screaming out in agony. He was asked to
    rate the pain threshold of the extraction. We were taken aback when he said it was the third worst pain
    he had ever had.

    We were shocked so the dentist asked if that was third what was the second.?
    My mate said that when he was on patrol with the SAS in the jungle he was taken short and urgently needed
    to have a "pony and trap."

    He had dropped his keks and inadvertently cra*ped on the open jaws of a bear trap, which sprung shut shut and
    trapped his testicles. We both winced as the dentist enquired " so, if that was the second worst pain, what in Gods name was the first. My mate replied " when the slack went out of the bear traps chain."
