Lock downs mean naff all to me. I still have to work regardless. They still sell Port, Pink Gin, VK Blue and Strongbow at the supermarket.

Well it means nonessential going out and possibly transmitting the virus which means those who have no alternative but to go out to work might be safer.
Is your work essential? Can’t you work from home?

Unless a full lockdown like we did back in march is enacted then this won't make a blind bit of difference . While the roads are busy with people going to work then this will give cover to people bending the rules who should nt be out and about .

Boris doing a speech at 8 pm so here comes the full lockdown. If it wasn't that bad he'd do a 5 pm briefing instead of waiting until prime time and we know he loves following what Scotland do.

Government was warned by the medical experts. Relax restrictions over Christmas then a huge surge in covid will happen in the new year.

At least they've realised under lockdown that key workers actually need to get to work via public transport. To be honest the first lockdown was laughable but I didn't realise there was a second lockdown at all other than my local being shut.

The schools closing are the only issue to me personally. Nothing else at this point will further impact on how my life has been because they have already taken away everything anyway.

Its an absolute embarrassment again we are behind other nations in outline lockdown plans. Scotland had already given out info on delaying schools so today's announcement although tough has been better prepared for.

Wales are in full lockdown which they have been criticised for before but at least the steps they take made some inroads before the new variant hit and they were decisive locking down again.

Boris was on TV smirking yesterday when questioned on this then again this morning distanced from restrictions only for us to be now waiting on what is going to happen at 8 o'clock this evening.

My kids are due back at school tomorrow and the school have been in contact still uncertain if all kids are expected or just those of key workers its pathetic and helps nobody when we are in limbo constantly especially after a 2 week holiday where it was blatant to everybody this would happen including advisors who have again been ignored.

If only the Scottish people had followed the guidelines, such as wear a mask at funeral gatherings...

I think Nicola S has been excellent throughout the pandemic but the decision to close Schools is a terrible one. Not good for children at all and a marginal impact on fighting the disease. It's such a bad decision I'll be amazed if Johnson doesn't follow.

Worth a watch and credit to GMB for asking what everyone else is asking . Matt Hancock also admitting nightingale hospitals not set up to deal with severe COVID patients . In short we are screwed because even with a full lockdown numbers will continue to rise for some time until they plateau which will probably overwhelm our health services .

You might as well shut schools for me . There isn't much education going on if I'm being honest . Online learning needs a complete overhaul to deal with the duration of this pandemic . My daughter logged on today as instructed but only 1 English teacher present and still no work done or work set .

Everyone agrees it’s not ideal to close schools but 30 kids in one class not social distancing . Who do you think they are taking the virus home to.

That's before you get to kids with no laptop/computer, maybe no internet connection at all.
