Children with lifelong mental health issues. Children self harming going through the roof. An increase in child suicide.

Half of the people I know in events are now bankrupt, or have found another job. I'm thankfully in the last group. 20 people work for me normally. I think it will be 5-8, if we get back to normal by August. If not it's all fecked.

In every similar company to the one I work for there has been approximately 59% redundancies. In ours and our competitors. In companies within the supply chain Andre have ceased trading with mass redundancies and quite a few others have simply cut staff.

A lot of those in the protected industries refuse to see that or simply do not care.

My company has had zero help since March. Unless you are a famous venue / arts organisation you are hung out to dry. The Tories don't like the arts. They like ******* pigs heads & rugger & shooting random animals, dressed in tweed. Some people on here voted for them.

It looks certain that we’re entering lockdown yet again but at what cost? I suspect many people in favour of lockdown are employed in sectors that are least affected. The toll on people’s livelihoods and mental health is immeasurable. The fall out is going to be very damaging indeed with unemployment probably about to reach 5 million.
It’s the young I feel sorry for. They’re the ones that are least likely to be ill but also the ones that stand to lose the most. Surely it would be better to isolate and protect the old and vulnerable rather than kill off the hopes of a whole generation (or two) with these lockdowns?

Really hoping my 2 can still go to school, they weren't allowed to last time and that essentially ment no education at all for them. It was one of the toughest times we have gone through as a family and that includes finding out you have 2 children with disabilities. So when some rejoice at the closing of the schools please take a moment to think of the devastating impact it has on many.

They don't give a toss mate.cthey pretend they do but they don't. The reaction many have to mental health is absolutely disgusting

I can guarantee the majority in favour of harsh lockdown are from a well paid, professional job that can easily be done from home and have a decent sized house and garden to live in.

I would think yours would count as vulnerable children and be able to attend.

On the work front I'm fortunate, we have been busier than ever due to the shut down of hospitality. Working in food production I have had to go to work throughout but I see that a positive, it's actually helped my own mental health to continue to go to work.

You would think but it wasn't the case last March. When a school has exclusively children with disabilities it would mean keeping the school fully open.
I expect them to be off as of tomorrow, maybe when the schools get a chance to put arrangements in place they may get to go back. The short notice timing of all this is pathetic.

do they know what happened with your wife? You should get support and vulnerable children for whatever reason should be able to attend school.

Why do you find it so hard to believe that some people can separate what they think is the best thing to do for the country from what is best for them? Lockdown is doing me no favours financially, I'm a lot worse off, yet I agree with the restrictions and don't think they have ever gone far enough.

They do and they have offered support, I'm not blaming them they have a school full of children who's parents may be in a similar postion.
I think we are better placed to deal with it this time but ultimately only time will tell. Now we have bought a new house and moved my mum and dad in with us we do have extra support at home. But I am still worried about the impact on the kids development, it's going to be challenging for sure.
I do appreciate your concern and you always have a supportive word when I've posted before, it's not unnoticed :)

When you say the best thing for the country I have to disagree. It’s the best thing for people most at risk, who probably account for less than a quarter (probably a lot less) of the population. For the vast majority lockdown is an absolute disaster for their livelihoods, mental health and future aspirations.
And you think we aren’t going far enough....?

Well announcing it at 8 at night certainly did the trick. I have no idea if we should take the kids to school or not tomorrow. Both classwd as vulnerable and I'm a key worker. But neither went last March so I'm a bit lost. Dropping it on the schools like this is shameful.

I've had 4 phone calls and over 10 messages from colleagues asking me whether they should work tomorrow. I have absolutely no idea but they're all asking me. Nobody has a clue because the buffoon couldn't run a bath but the racists of the UK elected him as prime minister
