These knocking the club have you stood and thought for a moment that it could be Leicester who have had a better offer from Coventry re contribution to his wages.thats made the decision...in my mind any money spent in contributing to wages or fines attached to loan players either playing or not is dead money....yeah I get he brought some class and experience to the team but paying your own players is in the long run better business for the club...let's see where we are come the end of the transfer window before we criticise them..and that's from me who's one of the biggest critics of the board Let's see what January brings....
We haven't sent him back. His loan has come to an end, and an arrangement hasn't been reached which best suits us going forward. That's how I read the situation anyway.
There was a lot more to the De Silva transfer from what I recall. Some work permit issue from what I remember, and then Everton decided they didn't want him after all.
You make £20k a week sound like spare change. That could be our entire transfer budget for the rest of the season. Unless we sell someone, we've no revenue coming in.
We’ve just spent more on a defender that might not make it into our best 11. Personally, I think it would’ve been an investment worthwhile for final league position and benefits to other players in the squad of having someone with his experience around. Would certainly have offered more £ per minute played value than many others in the squad. The only counter to that is if it frees up money to make a contract offer that Mowatt will accept.
It's a shame he's gone back but not really a surprise. Thanks to Leicester for letting him come to Barnsley and to him for his efforts on the pitch and for the experience he's given to our young lads. Cheers mate, best of luck.
Sorry if already posted, but it looks as though Matty is on his way to Coventry City on loan, if the rumours are true
It’s not a given that he would stay clear of injury though. That would be my concern. I wish him well.
What if he lives in Leicester (assume he does) and has a family (no idea) He may just want to be close to home, especially when we live in such restricted times. very disappointing to lose him but I won’t skate the club til I know the background. I’m not sure if whitey is allowed to elaborate or if Dane could comment but it would be good to know .
