There were a lot more BLM rallies yes, however that’s not the point I was making. I was pointing out that there were deaths at the hands of police there too, when as we all know they were never doing anything as close to as illegal as storming the capitol building. The fact that any of those people were allowed to leave that building free is an absolute disgrace. The police response was absolutely disproportionate to the threat, both in planning before hand and in terms of actual action taken on the day. Trump is clearly to blame for it, in terms of actually organising the riot in the first place, fanning the flames during his speech, refusing to mobilise the National Guard sooner and being unable to tell them to stop rioting without also praising them and further fuelling them. That video he made was an absolute disgrace. But this is who trump is. He’s a wannabe fascist dictator and it’s been obvious for 5 years. The fact that anybody put their vote next to his name is appalling. I don’t care if they were only voting for the party or against the democrats. They put they name next to his by putting an X in that box. They enabled him and they are just as at fault for what happened yesterday as the people storming that building. Hopefully the cabinet does their constitutional duty and removes the clearly unfit for office monster before he does any more damage. I won’t hold my breath though.
She was shot by secret service. The police were too busy taking selfies with terrorists. She was reportedly shot for trying to climb through a window into a restricted area of one of the supposedly most secure buildings on earth. To try and overturn a legitimate election. I struggle to find sympathy.
Agree it was a disgrace. That’s why I’m saying the investigation in to why is as important as everything else. It also hasn’t been confirmed officially (has it?) that he refused to deploy the National Guard. So who did if he didn’t? And why did the DC Mayor apparently reject help from the National Guard a day ahead? It’s all a mess - hence the calls for the chief of police to resign. Nothing is worse than storming a political building. I’m still in shock thinking about if that was Westminster. But surely we don’t disregard the cities that were on fire and shops that were looted in the other protests?
I'm not disregarding anything. But the responses to each were completely disproportional. And I know they are controlled by different bodies, so you can't compare for example the police response in Seattle to the Police response in DC, but it's still not a good look. Not sure where you're getting that about the DC mayor. The Department of Defense denied the request. https://dccouncil.us/dc-council-sta...ial-of-dcs-national-guard-deployment-request/
The response to yesterday was definitely disproportionate to the crimes being committed that’s for sure. DC Mayor was the day before. Along with the claim from the chief of police that their intelligence didn’t show any threats - which is just ridiculous and obviously not true.
She was...the video is on Twitter. The door window is smashed...furniture behind the door barricading it....arm of suited man comes from the left holding a gun with a shout of get back...she almost gets through when shot and she falls back into the protesters. I'll not post a link as it is not good viewing...if anyone wants to see it search for the"air force" trend on Twitter and you will find it.....along with some of her rants backing tRump and his conspiracies.
If anything I think the response was incredibly restrained given that people were breaking into the Capitol Building with politicians inside in an attempt to frustrate a legitimate transfer of power.
Ah fair enough if I've misinterpretrd, I'm just used to disproportionate being used when something is over the top rather than underegged
Trump full concession speech. Sounding the most presidential he ever has, with 13 days left. Trying to avoid a sedition charge?
Just a few weeks too late. I wonder how much convincing he took to read that out through gritted teeth.
Trump is a total disgrace, calls all his supporters to rally in Washington then, gives them instructions to march on capital building, then day after says this, he should have said it day after he lost to Biden poor lass who was shot dead yesterday, would be alive now, what an utter scumbag
I am glad he finally said it, but so mad at what he as caused theses last few weeks,he deserved to be thrown out on his arse, he does not deserve to go out as President
The BLM protests across America were caused by a continuing slew of reckless and in some cases shocking killings of black people in the country. The violence resulting was wrong. The violence in Washington yesterday was caused by the perpetration of a seditious lie by Trump and his lackeys. The BLM protests were met by maximum force. Protesters being picked off the streets and thrown into unmarked vans, suffering unprovoked attacks by police and Police Union leaders systemically defending the officers who killed the victims such as George Floyd and cracked down heavily on protesters. The head of the Chicago Police Union has now come out and stated there was no treason in Washington. That there was no violence. There are certain people who will deny this but America has a serious problem with its police and it's unmistakably anchored in racism.
The right wing nutjobs are now turning against Trump in their droves for conceding. "We don't need him, he needs us" was a particularly humorous one.
