I hope he decides to see his contract out so he can leave on a free, then we get promoted and let him leave to a championship club :D

I've no idea, but in my opinion, we've a better central midfielder at the club who cost considerably less than £1.2m.

And I don't think our club will be doing that either.

If we sell him then the decision to not extend James will have been a disaster... So I therefore 100% believe we’ll sell him!

That was 4 years ago... and even then was stolen. Do other teams do this? Is there another championship or league 1 captain and centre mid proven midfielder that we could “snap” up from their dwindling contract?

Well it's Barnsley not Brentford or Peterborough who always seem to get value for money on player sales unlike ourselves.

Wonder if or what the sell-on clause is with Leeds

Same old Barnsley if he goes. I respect our transfer policy and understand the reasons why, however, for once, I’d prefer the club to go against their strategy and keep him here until the end of the season. If there’s a Leeds sell on clause we’re looking at a £500k profit - it isn’t worth the risk for me. We’ve got some tough games coming up and could end up much closer to the bottom three by mid February. Sheff Wed, Forest, and Derby are all slowly turning their seasons around. I know plenty are convinced there’s no chance we’re going down, but you just never know.

See you later Mowatt. Dragged on far too long that he wasn’t ever going to sign a new deal. A real shame but should he leave it will be to coin an old phrase a time for new heroes.

If this happens then its absolutely comedy gold from Barnsley.
Stop try to run a successful championship club on mid league one wages.
The lads here already. Pay him a bit more money instead of selling a £5 million player for a million and spending that million on some crap Austrian import.

Hes here, hes the captain use some common sense.

if he goes to millwall for a million after sending James back then someone needs to come out and explain the sense as where we sot in the league, we should be signing to move forward. Not drop like a stone.

To be fair to the club they’ve been trying to negotiate a new contract with Mowatt for ages.

If he won’t sign one, if they can’t pay what he’s demanding, then a 1.2million fee for a player with only six months on his contract isn’t that bad. I like Alex as a player and would really like him to stay - but losing him this season would not be akin to losing Hourihane four years ago, he’s not as good or quite as influential. And we haven’t just sold the star striker to Sheffield Wednesday like we had that year either...

A few calling for Whiteman, but is he really that much better than Kane? Would he settle straight in?

Use the money to buy a left wingback and let Styles play where he’s better suited.

I can't believe fans are up in arms. It's club policy. Let our best players get near the end of their contract have our pants pulled down and let them go to a **** club for fe ck all.

Tend to agree. the next week I think will be crucial . i think replacing M James and Mowatt might be a step too far at this point of the season for Kane, Palmer, Odour or Christie -Davies is a step too far and too early at this point of the season. But the club policy is still the same so selling our talent hasn't changed either unfortunately.
