Do I think Trump will 'win'? If you mean do I think he will win the election, then no.

Do I still think he will be the next President. Yes.

Of course technically he can’t be the ‘next’ president. So if that’s your stance on your bet, you’ve lost (by yet another measure).

How? His term automatically expires on the 20th at Noon.
In order for him to keep it beyond that date he would have to be approved by congress. Surely you realise this?

I'm not trying to win on technicalities or semantics. If you believe the term 'Next President is too vague let me clarify my position for you. I am saying that Trump will serve a second term and that Biden will not be inaugurated as President.

    I agree. It does.

    Not necessarily.

Let me ask you a hypothetical question (and just for clarity I'm not suggesting this will happen, hence the word 'hypothetical').....

If a meteor were to hit the Capitol Building and all the Senators and Congressmen were killed as a result.... Do you believe that the US couldn't possibly appoint a new President because the appointment couldn't be approved by Congress?

You must surely be getting the sense by now that this isn't a 'run of the mill' election and that sometimes things happen that mean it is not possible or not appropriate to follow the usual 'rulebook'. I think you need to learn to be a little less rigid of thought and think 'outside the box' a little.

Now let me ask you a few non-hypothetical questions...

Trump has already stated that he believes that much of the trouble last Wednesday was caused by Antifa members masquerading as his supporters. I don't expect you to agree that this was the case, but you can surely accept that, rightly or wrongly, Trump has suggested this (I can probably find you a report of him saying this if need be).

So, given that we know that the Inauguration ceremony is going to be a 'virtual' affair and, as such, people aren't expected to attend in person.... Why do you suppose that Trump would put into effect an Executive Order declaring a state of emergency and deploy up to 15,000 US troops in Washington until 24th January 2021? If Biden is going to be 'virtually' inaugurated, do you think he expects that his supporters are going to descend on Washington in huge numbers to cause trouble? Or could it be that he anticipates trouble being instigated by a different group for another reason?

Just for clarity ‘next president’ isn’t at all vague.
It means the President after the current president. If (as the nutters believe) Trump will remain in office, then the next president is still the president that follows Trump, whether that’s next week, next year, 2024 or 2054.

But of course you’re the clever one with the inside info so I don’t understand why I’m having to explain such simple things to you.

Are you aware of the series ‘designated survivor’?
The constitution covers this very simply. That series also covers probably many of the batsh it conspiracies you’ve read in your QAnon bubble.

They always keep one member of the line of succession away from events that are taking place at the capitol building, so it's not possible for the entire line of succession to be taken out. it's referred to as 'Designated Survivor'.
Even if everyone was taken out though, Trump would not remain president. His term expires on the 20th at Noon and that's it.

Also Biden's inauguration isn't virtual. The parties and events surrounding it are. Again, stop reading thedonald. They talk utter horse ****.

Seems we both referenced the same show at the same time! Great series. Shame they didn't make more.

Why? I'd rather not let someone post conspiracist nonsense unopposed. Other people reading the board could easily be influenced by the nonsense if nobody points out how nonsense it is. That's how this nonsense starts in the first place.

    Nonsense.

I got bored mid 2nd season, as with most series it became formulaic and repetitive.

    it started brilliantly though.

The bet that I placed with 'Smarkets' described the market as 'Next President' and they had Trump as one of the betting options. Perhaps you could drop them a quick email and explain to them that 'technically' this was not possible?

Like I said.... I'm not trying to win a bet on a technicality. Maybe I should have said 'the person who serves the next Presidential term' so as not to confuse you.

i know its difficult when he's plainly a nutter, everyone with a sane mind has realised its nonsense. But telling him so for 173 pages hasn't stopped him, telling him again for another 173 wont either. he's welched on a charity bet and continues to move his own mental goalposts, you arent achieving anything unfortunately apart from giving him further air time.

The thing is I'm not trying to achieve anything. I'm just not letting him spout his BS unopposed. It's all within this thread so it's not like it's infecting the rest of the board or anything.

Could easily be influenced? To do what, pray tell? Buy a gun off the dark web and go on a murderous rampage? You really need to stop living in a state of unneccesary, perpetual fear. It can't be good for your health!

So which bit do you disagree with particularly? That Trump stated that he believed that Antifa were behind the altercations last Wednesday? That Trump has been responsible for the deployment of the National Guard in Washington? That the Inauguration is planned to be 'virtual' with hardly anyone in attendance?

I find the insanity mildly entertaining l. The chap clearly needs a mental health assessment and his idiocy needs challenging but still relatively funny.
