So Ismael says the board should be aware of this before selling, could be the start of the end for valarian if they sell, hope not.

 

If they sell him this could end up being the shortest iteration of the Barnsley managerial cycle yet based on that quote:

Appoint promising young manager
Good results
**** transfer window
Results turn bad
Manager slags transfer business in press
Manager leaves

 

What I gather from all of this is, we've offered Alex a new deal, Alex is waiting to see if he gets a better offer. Dane has said we aren't selling this window, big Val has said we're not selling this window. Alex is sitting on his contract offer until the summer and waiting to see if he gets a better deal elsewhere.

I suppose it's the 2nd best case scenario (other than Alex signing a new deal). It's encouraging to see that Val and the board seem to be on the same page. Main transfer business done early, and apparent promises not to sell our main players.

 

I'll let you take him on then pal. I aint messing

Will big Val be impeached for saying that?

 

Until someone doubles his money to play for a bigger club in the same division.

 

The only problem is whether the board will allow themselves to be influenced by the coach on the value of a player. The last couple of windows have been encouraging, but I still think that the chances of him being here in feb are less than 50%

 

Has anyone thought that we’re playing the waiting game too, let’s say we’re willing to give him £15k a week but we’ve so far offered £10k, if team X come in and say right we’ll give you £12k Alex we then step back and and beat that offer!!

Whils a lot hate this board there not multi multi millionaires for making bad decisions, we’ve got some
Talented players and they’ll know that the bargaining power is with them.......keep this XI and finish the season well and you watch the crowds flood back as soon as we can!!!

 

My guess is that both player and club know what wage would get him to sign vs look for a move (and I reckon he'd sign for us for less than he would get elsewhere), but the club probably need to do some work to get players out to make it feasible. If we could offload Ritzmaier permanently, we'd be in a better position.

 

There must be at least £4k-£5k of players salaries we could lose to make up what’s required to keep AM here!!!

If he signs a new contract, for me it’s the biggest ‘signing/new-contract signed’ for a very long time, he’s starting to enter the book of players who are simply loved by every fan, the last being the man himself Adam Hammil

 

We've a huge squad. But the problem is getting rid or freeing up some of that salary through a short term loan (and thats the case in regular times, not now when clubs are struggling) when the player is on a better deal here than they would get elsewhere.

Its exacerbated all the more when they're on long contracts too.

 

I think there'll be some outgoings either this month or in the summer that will raise eyebrows. It's only the players that show any glimpses that will attract any interest, so the likes of Thomas and Odour might be sold. Victor might even be released, given his contract is up and we've just signed a player that looks to do a similar role.

The 2019 obsession with signing 20 year olds, and Struber's insistence that only players that have played "his system" before will be ready for the championship is still causing us a hangover. We have Odour, Halme, Sibbick, Schmidt, Miller and no doubt others that I can't remember that can't get a game. And I dread to think what we're paying Ritzmaier and Frieser.

I suspect we paid McGeehan to leave, and we'll no doubt be paying plenty of others to go. Something the board should consider when they're thinking about what would constitute good value for money on Mowatt's contract.
