Hope the game is in as there is not much else to do on a Saturday night. My wife is in England caring for her mother so a few beers and the game is the highlight of the week. On the money front the fee for the home team in a televised clash a couple of years ago was £100k in the championship, this increases for games on a Thursday or Sunday. The increase in the solidarity payment and basic award to all championship clubs resulted in a lower per match fee than that paid historically but ensures a fairer split across the league. From memory the away team gets around £10k.
Do they allow the snow to melt on the pitch or clear the pitch of snow? I've no idea. If it's not waterlogged, judging by the last home game, when it wasn't much better than the pitch at Swansea, and the weather we've had since, I can't imagine the surface is going to be great. And I wouldn't have thought playing on it at this time is going to do it much good for the rest of the season.
Presumably move the snow then the heating dried the rest out? On STID it had the players and Coleman shovelling the snow off the pitch and I assume they have undersoil heating?
The match was never going to be called off even the other day. All they had to do was get shut of snow off a pitch with undersoil heating. The didn't even have to clear it out of the stands or from surrounding areas.
Construction of the North Stand was 98/99. That’s 23 years ago. And yes, commercial gas boilers are a lot more efficient these days, just like pretty much everything else that is manufactured. So to answer your question - a brand new stadium will have a significantly lower running cost of a undersoil heating system, along with cheaper maintenance as parts are newer and more readily available. A 23 year old boiler is expensive to service and repair - as not everyone now knows how to service them, and sometimes parts have to be made for them. The Metrodome boilers up until recently had the exact same problem. Old and expensive with hardly any spare parts. That’s why they have/are being changed.
My only point, was that some folk seem to think running/maintaining Oakwell costs pennies. A £22k gas bill for one month adds a bit more depth to that conversation.
The pitch, like many I have seen this season looks worse than it has done for a while. However, at no time has it looked anywhere near as bad as Swansea’s pitch earlier this season
22k probably once a month doesn't justify a new stadium. The only reason they want a new stadium is so that they can own the lot because they're greedy businessmen who don't have any interest in bfc
It symptomatic of the situation though. Can’t invest in something they don’t own. And the rent charge doesn’t reflect the conditions being offered. That’s the argument. If you rented a terraced house and paying good money - you’d expect a reasonably new and efficient boiler in it. Or you might want a reduction in rent.
But a lot of businesses rent their premises. Shops, pubs etc. And they pay for upkeep/refurbs. Its different to renting a house
I think it was dug up so they could install the underground heating system. I’m not sure though, it was a long time ago.
In tests to be shown on the main site soon, the tractor turned in the area 7 full seconds faster than Mido. Allegedly
