We don't play a style that suits Schmidt and never have. If we were a team that bombed down the channels and put crosses into the box along the floor or in the air he'd score goals. Even when we adopt hoof ball we're too intricate around the box.
Nah, A1 down past Peterborough then cut across country past Cambridge. Either going down to Watford or using the M1 to get over to the A1 south of Sheffield.
It's a bit chicken and egg. The reason we're too intricate around the box is that we never have forwards attacking crosses. I think if we did, Brittain in particularly would be getting a lot more early crosses in. Unfortunately, Schmidt missed a big opportunity in the QPR game. He really should've had a hat trick in Ismael's first game, which would've got him in the coach's good books. But him and Simoes both wasted chances then followed it up with an awful display at Cardiff.
I think like many,I had great hopes for Thomas last season after his opener against Fulham but he never really lived up to his promise. He seemed unsure of what to do ie pass or shoot and list possession too easily too often . Played often on right hand side although signed as a left winger. Hope he progresses at Ipswich cos at 1.2 million he has proved a costly signing who has not produced. I just hope Kane doesn't go the same way.
I think a few games and a bit of confidence will do Thomas the world of good. Don’t forget that Alex Mowatt kicked off his Oakwell career in a similar vein and that didn’t turn out too badly.
This⬆️ Shimmey round Cambridge and Newmarket, nutmeg Bury St Edmunds then run out of steam at Copdock and fall over his own laces on the road into Ipswich.
Much as i like Val I'm not too keen on his man management when it comes to slating young players in public.
Have to admit, VI not one for messing about and saying how it is. Not sure if this public airing of views will go down well in some quarters, but I prefer honesty, just sometimes not in public
.oh yes, I like honesty but some things are best said in private. Strikes me that it would be hard for the players to put their point of view that's all, it's not an equal situation.
Reportedly spent the best part of £2.5 million on Thomas and Kane. Hard to think of that as value for money so far
Completely agree Helen. I would like to think that VI gives everyone the chance to be heard and also prove themselves. They must know what his standards and expectations are, but public slating is not a preferred option of mine.
The only impression of him I get is a young lad who wants regular first team Football in his favourite position, whilst we were playing him out of position and not giving him enough minutes to make much of a impact.
That's really disappointing in so many ways. That Thomas was unprofessional. That Ismael was unprofessional in publicly calling him unprofessional. And then to top it off Thomas' comments to ITFC "I'm an out and out winger, that's all I know." Well maybe, another string to your bow or guidance in playing other formations might actually help you develop and play more, and better football. If Ismael is still here in the summer (just on the basis of how long out coaches tend to last!), I'm not sure how easily those bridges are going to be mended.
