(I don't actually remember the last match I went to, but suspect it was in March) Want this ..... We're not going down, we're not going up, we're Barnsley FC and we don't give a..... And a bit of our Adam
felt a bit down tonight, cant get warm and our lass saying we should make a will, jeez , those 3 clips cheered me up a bit, one day soon I hope
It's surprising how something like this can cheer us up. I'll go through my old phones and see if if I can find any more tomorrow.
I remember it a miserable 2-0 home defeat by Cardiff remember discussing with Dad whether we would be at the next game as there was talk of banning over 70’s Didn’t expect to be gone so long when we walked out of the ground. Had a ticket for QPR but ....
That's right. I had my QPR ticket as I'd never been to that ground before. I knew we'd loose but just needed to go once to see the place (I still maintain we'd have lost had fans been allowed in). I only had Stoke and QPR to complete the championship grounds for that season as well and was looking forward to both.
Agree we wouldn’t have won had we played as normal. Still want to be back at some games. Just listening to your first clip above brings it all back. Hopefully we might get in at the start of next season. I think we can write this one off
Mine was Birmingham at home, we lost 0-1 and were awful. I was convinced we were going to be relegated but I wasn't too fussed. I was going into hospital the following week for open heart surgery I figured that was a bigger deal. To be honest, after everything that's happened since it seems pretty inconsequential.
I lost my last bit of hope that we could survive that day. It was horrendous. History tells us I was wrong of course, but let’s be honest, as well as doing fantastically well, we had a fair bit of luck to do it with one thing and another, be that consecutive injury time winners or points deductions (albeit deserved) for other teams. We had no expectation to still be a championship side this season whatsoever after that Cardiff match. Which is why I’m not too worried about having lost a few games in a row to top four sides when we are still in the top half of the table. The last couple of games haven’t been terrible performance wise, and a fair few of us predicted a rough January looking at the fixtures. We will be ok I reckon. More than. We were never good enough to trouble the top sides and so unlikely to get higher than top ten or thereabouts. That is still bloody quick progress in my eyes.
Excellent post , I was thinking of posting something on similar lines but from my point of view you have put it perfectly . I always think there is a massive over reaction to every result & I try to adopt a stand back & reflect approach, but todays social media fan base instantly react not only to every result but also every goal, which I can understand but I must confess winds me up big time ,but to sum up from where we were this time last season to the current position is real progress & long may it continue
If I'm honest, I lost hope we'd stay up before the Cardiff home game - home to Birmingham springs to mind. Absolutely we wouldn't have stayed up had the league progressed at it should have before Covid. That's been discussed before. Also, we were bottom of the league in the 92nd minute of the penultimate game - at home to Forest. How soon some people forget. We have made such a vast amount of progress in a short space of time, it's quite frankly unbelievable really. I too am not worried about losing a few games against the "so called top sides". I've said before this coach and team remind me of what we had mid 90s under Wilson. Good team, could beat anyone on their day, but ultimately not good enough for the playoffs. Then it all came together in the 96/97 season. If we can keep Valerien and this squad together who knows where we could end up in a couple of years time
