I have to ask, why do we all say that the USA is our closest ally. Isn't our closest ally actually Ireland? We have a shared history (fair enough, a lot was abusive from our side), shared language, common travel area, etc, etc.

Ireland wasn't much of an ally in WWII. If the US had taken the same stance, Hitler would have won the war.

IIRC The UK has fought the same number of wars against the USA as Germany has (3). The Irish were on our side in every one of those - the USA won two and the last was a draw :)

I have always thought we were just an annex of the United States, the 51st state or whatever number it is, the kid that hangs around with the bully.

there is a very sad side to it though. I have a degree of sympathy for anyone who is brainwashed by any cult. which is exactly what Q is. faceless goon(s) exploiting very vulnerable people. QAnon isn't the first and definitely won't be the last of its type. I suspect its faceless creators are cooking up their next scam as we speak.

you aren’t wrong, radicalization of any form is terribly sad. The victims aren’t often aware they are actually victims.

Knew it would nt be long . Biden bins the keystone pipeline which I do agree with , then sends troops into Syria to secure foreign oilfields . Looks like the Dems are back with a vengeance . Enjoy the next four years everyone because it isn't going to get better anytime soon .

Mandated mask wearing in an effort to stem the needless waste of lives due to Trump's negligence.

What? You think he's got a magic wand? At least he's trying to improve the situation.
Look. I don't like America much. From the visits I've had there I find it venal and false. I could write an essay on what they've done wrong domestically and internationally over the years.
But you've been equivocating about Trump's regime for years. It's been one of the most heinous administrations witnessed in what could be loosely described as the free world.
Biden and the Democrats may be a long long way from perfect but if you can't acknowledge that the world is a better place for their replacing Trump then there's little point engaging with you.

Fair enough . I know it's going to be tough over the next few years to come to terms with the fact that biden is just as bigger con man as trump . As for trump being better than biden , go ask a few lybians or Syrians what they think of that statement .

I'm sorry but I fail to see any humour on show unless of course you wish to enlighten me .

I hope you are aware that the uprising in Syria was funded by the US / UK / SA which led to the death of upwards of 500k Syrians . Maybe you feel Syrians are lesser humans so fair game .

Very simple. You said it wasn't going to get better any time soon. I can now reveal to you that it got infinitely better the moment that lying, cheating, sexist, thin-skinned, narcissistic, tiny-handed orange crook lost the election. He was never a president, just a serial failed-businessman trying to swindle the US for the benefit of his weird family. The US can now start to rebuild itself on the global stage. That's why it's already better. Happy to help.
