Disgusting, horrible, vile, sectarian comments from the idiot. Sadly, it encourages other disgusting, horrible, vile sectarian comments from the other side of the divide. Both sides then jump through hoops trying to attach blame to the others, whilst excusing their own comments and actions. Thankfully, in my opinion, the good, decent people vastly outnumber the scum.
I'd say there's a definite wish for a united Ireland but also a strong dislike of Sinn Feinn and the IRA. There's next to no support for what went on in the troubles bar the odd moron. In terms of the Irish government they seem to tread lightly on the subject. I was talking to an Irish Labour party activist about it this afternoon actually and he seemed to be of the opinion that neither side really wants the north as it's too costly and more trouble than it's worth. I'd guess that at some point in the future there will be a united Ireland but, hopefully, nobody stirs the pot and it's allowed to happen naturally. My other half is a member on here as she loves reading the forum though isn't big on football. She might post her opinion if the mood takes her.
surprised to see that DUP have 28 seats in Stormont and Sinn Fein 27. Support for Sinn Fein growing in Northern Ireland and support for the DUP diminishing. 'Local' Elections due in May 2022 - if Sinn Fein end up in power will this mean a push for a united Ireland ??
If the Irish Scots and Welsh want their independence then let them have it. Although that would lead to a serious problem for us in England a nailed on Tory government for potentially decades.
Well this thread has grazed across a number of subjects. The original post was the result of a set up. Lots of people jumped in really quickly with their opinions - many of which were well outside of views on the fake photo. Hope you’re pleased with yourselves for that. Anyone with a thread of humanity would condemn such an act had it taken place but it didn’t. A little less gullibility around social media wouldn’t be a bad thing. Neither would a little more humility when you’ve had it pointed out that you ****** up. No offence like.
I presume this is the horrible w.nker that has thankfully been charged https://mol.im/a/9237235 Hope he gets shafted for it.
I have just been sent a picture of Kelly. I certainly hope it’s not another false post. Guy looks in his 50s and really should know better. I think he will be looking over his shoulder for the foreseeable future
The power sharing arrangement means that Sinn Fein and DUP were always intended to share power in NI - even though last time it collapsed after the "Cash for Ash" scandal (Arlene Foster). Last polls I saw showed that the Alliance are likely to overtake the DUP into 2nd place in the elections this year. The demographics mean that at some point Catholics/Irish passport holders will be a majority which is where the border poll from the GFA comes in. Until recently, the residents of NI could choose to be British, Irish or both - but there was a court case due to the UK government making decisions on that they weren't really allowed to. Sinn Fein are also the largest party in the Republic - but a coalition between the 2nd and 3rd kept them in power. In the Republic, Sinn Fein are the equivalent of our Labour (left wing), whereas their Labour is centre-left.
