Is our squad number 10 cursed?

I was just thinking back, and I can't remember us having a number 10 who was really good! Bahre, Moncur, Done, Hemmings and co had their moments, but none of them really made a position their own.

Was McPhail the last decent 10? Hopefully Dike smashes it and bucks the trend!

I don't think it's cursed. I just think they've given some crap players the shirt.

I forgot actually that Brian Howard moved to number 10 for his last season. And Boggy was number 10 too. Still a while back though

Didn’t Brian Howard switch to number 10 after McPhail left?

Bogdanovic and O’Grady wore 10, I think, and both chipped in with a few goals.

I always thought that the number 10 was supposed to be a playmaker. Boggy and Howard weren't really playmakers. I thought it was your number 9 that was supposed to be your centre forward.

    That takes me back.

No. 10 were cheaper and dog rough.

    No. 6 were better

If you'd got the cash it was Embassy

Tried menthol consulate for a time.

Started smoking at around 13 and packed in on my 18th birthday by which time I was up to 30 a day.

Can't believe I ever smoked now, but it was the 1970s and times were very different.

O'Grady was the last decent number 10. As a 'proper' number 10, attacking midfielder who wore the number, Brian Howard

"proper" number 10's are centre forwards. It's only recently that "number 10" has become a "position" associated with attacking midfielders.

I'd forgotten about O'Grady to be honest. His great season was when we were awful so I think he gets overloked

For me No 9 is the centre forward and the No 10 the main goalscorer.
