It's before my time, but the house I was born in was about 50 yards from that bus stop (1957). I don't remember trams, but I think I can just about remember Trolleybuses.

Looks like a cable connector for the electricity to drive the tram. If you zoom in on the background there's several others on the overhead cables. Forward thinking getting shut of the trams he says sarcastically.

Still think it’s a pair o boots chucked over the power lines...

They used to do it all the time. Tie laces together and lob them up. You can even see the lines they’re hanging from.

But if you want to believe the Red Baron was scoping out the mill... I won’t spoil it for ya!

To be fair it is now... no need for rails or overhead cables in today’s driverless possibility. ‍♂️

Looks like it. I know the governor at Wentworth Woodhouse was a big aviation fan and held some air meeting well before the first war.

I'll see if some aviation specialists can identify this.

The photographer is very interesting....John Semley b1888 Worsborough Bridge. In the 1911 census he is a miner so unlikely to be able to afford photographic equipment.
During WW1 he enlists in The Royal Army Medical Corps.
In 1931 he lives at 51 Park Road, Worsborough Bridge. Which is now Janco Toys opposite the Asda.
By 1939 he owns a Masseuse practice on Huddersfield Road.
My guess is he put his RAMC experience to good use and moved up in the world.
I would guess the photo was taken sometime post WW1.
