You can slot one of them in their prime into our starting 11 today. Who do you pick? Redders was just a couple of years before my time, but Hourihane was incredible for us. Who would have the biggest impact on this side?
Redders without a shadow of a doubt. Never gave up and played well at the top level. Love Conor though, wish we could have loaned him.
Hourihane’s record in the Prem isn’t bad to be fair, I think he just lacked the ‘flair’ Villa feel they need for their system.
I know, I kept yelling at them to have him on the pitch last season but Redders was the leader, some of his passing and the speed at which we played was just a class above.
Redders for me, pure out and out never say die aggressive driving powerhouse...but Connors flair and reading of the game in the centre was class..different players but a hard choice.
Redfearn, all day, every day. I loved Conor, but Redders was just a different class. The way he could drive us forward was sensational, and he'd have you on the edge of your seat every time. He edge's Hourihane in just about every department.
Redders all day long for me. Both were quality but Redders did it over a longer period. Would’ve been interesting to see where we could’ve gone if Coner had stayed longer though.
Redders without hesitation. As good as Hourihane is I don't even think it's a hard choice. Redders was just sensational for us. Without him I think we would have finished rock bottom of the Premier league. When he left all the news was on Danny Wilson doing the dirty on us and going down the M1 but in reality the bigger blow that summer was the loss of Redders.
Redders, without a doubt, Captain Marvel, stayed with us over 7 seasons. Scored goals and captained us at the highest level. The second best player to ever play for our club behind King Ronnie Glavin
Redfearn. No question. All round game better. Consistency better. Much more dynamic. Amazing engine. Ability to whack a moving ball was brilliant. Wish we had his like in the current team. Hourihane was a decent player but literally not in the same league for us
Villa mate of.mine regards Hourihaine as an excellent dead ball specialist with little on offer otherwise. He says he's not good enough for their team. All about opinions eh.
Conor for me is technically better, but Redfearn was a much better all round player and very much the heartbeat of the club and team for a number of years.
Redfearn without a moment of hesitation. But that doesn't mean I have anything other than admiration for Hourihane. He's a great player who did fantastically well for us and is currently showing his class for Swansea. Great bloke too who I like a lot. It's just Redfearn was something else.
