I get that the price isn’t much but I’ve never seen any club do this. Although I’ll be honest, I don’t spend my time looking at club’s pitches so maybe they are covering them.
I am glad it is postponed, I just nipped out to end of garden in t shirt and shorts, I am soaked to skin, we do not want big D K , out in this
I’m sure someone from the club (Dane? Whitey?) explained not too long ago that the current state of the pitch was partly caused by the short gap between last season and this. Usual summer maintenance work couldn’t take place.
I did say might not didnt. Management MIGHT not like heavy conditions,MIGHT like Dike to have another week settling in.Does that sound illogical.
I'm sure Leicester used to have an inflatable dome on their old Filbert Street pitch in the winter to avoid situations like this. The top two leagues should always have playable pitches so it's down to lack of investment for me.
Club / groundsman getting some unfair stick here IMHO. I’m as gutted as anyone its off but. The pitch had hardly recovery time from last season so wasn’t been great to start with and given the almost constant snow, rain, damp conditions its just had no help to dry out. Its also not just about this game ts about the effect on the pitch fir the rest of the season
Same for every other club in the country but even Rochdale and Fleetwood have games on today and I doubt the weather in those places is much different to here.
Absolutely, when I was a referee we were always advised that when making a decision to play or not, think about the state of the pitch not just for that particular game, but for future games.
According to work colleagues in offices t’other side of Pennines, they haven’t had the snow we’ve had
It’s a little embarrassing that Donny (as things stand) are able to have their game played and we aren’t due to rain. I wouldn’t go as far as saying the ground staff should lose their job, I’d imagine they’ll be absolutely gutted a game has been postponed due to standing water. I feel for them.
