No, but then again, we’re not friends with many of the people we take a cheeky dig at in the name of banter. People in the public eye get it all the time. As I’ve said, it’s a fine line. If someone had said the ironing board thing to me I would have shrugged it off along with the million “get the kettle on” or “get back in the kitchen” jokes I’ve heard. However she may feel differently. I doubt it as I expect she gets much worse from crowds in stadiums up and down the country.
So 4 times you have used that term. I have asked you to stop more than once because I’m finding it very offensive. Yet you now call me a moron?
With you there, mate. I Have a couple of tinnies left. Love how they all come out after a defeat. No encouragement & blind optimism beforehand, just pre- meditated nastniness at full time. I must have seen 2-300 footballers at Oakwell in my 42 seasons. All just a couple of games away from greatness. It’s that belief that keeps me going. Sibbick did very well tonight, I thought.
Still off work due to covid fatigue. So nowt to get up for Cant sleep.at night anyway due to doing very little during the day so here i am being easily amused. YN must be so proud.
I’m same, mate. A good art gig last year set me up, but has made me lazy. Gotta get back on the bike bike & save up for rainy days..
I'm bored beyond belief. Cabin fever has kicked in. Longest i have ever been off sick in my entire working career. Its a physical job i.do and I'm in no fit state to do it. Hope i never contract it again.
Ok, if I have genuinely offended you, then I'm sorry. I only tried to advocate people to stop using racist/sexist sIurs. However you seem incapable of recognising the context in which I said such slurs. I also apologise for calling you a moron. It's not very nice. Although in my defence, you do come across as a bit dim.
I didn’t, I asked you outright to stop. Yet you continued. Now maybe I am being a bit dim, but what exactly are you trying to achieve again? I have said I was offended by your use of racist terms. You then persisted in trying to back up your delightfully intelligent argument by continuing to offend me by repeating the word. Do you want me to say it’s ok for you to use such language, as long as you’re making a point? It isn’t.
Absolutely not. I was trying to be a little conciliatory. I find the other two comments insulting and, as humour, schoolyard level at best. To insult someone and then say, "oh where's your sense of humour it's just a bit of a laugh" pretty pathetic. It's exactly what bullies do.
What I was saying which again is lost on you is that many people are calling out what has been said about her due to the sexist comments and your response has been "oh can't we criticise her because she's female now?" If you can't see why people got annoyed in the first place then I refer you to my previous comment. Of course she isn't beyond criticism.
He was clearly referencing the term as an example of how the word offends. Your attempts at projection are as transparent as a plate glass window.
What about those cameras they use on tracks or overhead wires ( like the F1 pit lane ones which can do at least 50mph 0-60 in about 2 seconds I believe) The linos and operators could sit with the VAR man in a nice warm room ( and even do a spot of ironing whilst watching the screen ! Note: regardless of whether they are male, female or... err... whatever! )
I’m sorry, but none of my comments were in any regard to the sex of the official. I did in the earlier posts used the prefix she, but dropped that from later posts. You however started shouting me down for making a football related post on a football forum claiming I was being sexist. So stop with the what I’m saying is lost on you. If you take offence, take it with the correct posters.
So now you’re the offending police... A: why can’t I be offended by that word being put on the message board? B: why after I said it was offensive to me, did they need to write it in every subsequent post? They could have just referenced it as something else. C: who put you in charge of how people should take offence?
Most humour targets something or someone that someone somewhere will find offensive even where no malice is intended. I also, possibly naively, took the OP of this thread, as a humorous targeting of the misogynistic nature of the original post that started this debate . i.e. the totally unreasonable one containing accusations of incompetence (which were wrong in any case as it turns out) BECAUSE the lino was female!
