Seeing my uncles and cousins for me and catching up on life. Also special mention for an over cooked pie with the bottom pastry having an asbestos like texture
Chennels Beers Roar going up when we come out Walking home wen we've won Seeing results and Wendy's have lost
Meeting in court house for away days early getting to destination for 10-30 to 11 watch early match get to ground in good time and support our tarn play all the company of my lifelong friends
Meeting a mate in Highgate WMC for a frame or two of snooker at about 12, then a leisurely drive to Hoyle Mill and a walk up the Dearne to Oakwell.
Meeting mates at match and THAT feeling when they win and wendies and blunts lose.Praise or grumble is great on way home then lol.
I’ve got to say all of it. From moaning at officials to going there with my grandad and brother to going crazy when we score a goal. If I had to pick one though thing I’d say the feeling of being “part of it”. Watching it on iFollow is good on most occasions but it’s just not the same for me. I know people will say there’s more important things in life but I’m really starting to miss it now. We’re probably still miles away from having Oakwell being full again and away fans crammed in but hopefully we can be back in some capacity next season.
Travelling to the ground with my daughter and grandson. Meeting up with an old mate I've been friends with for 70 years and taking him to the game. Meeting up with the crew from my Primary school days. A pint at the Corner Tabernacle under the East Stand. Banter with the folk who sit round us and have been fixtures for years, with special mention to Michael Spink and Jean who used to run the old ticket office in Grove Street. Leaping in the air when we score, maybe falling into the row in front. (not quite the same when at home and comments from the next room along the lines of "Must you really say things like that?") Freezing my arse off in winter. The odd pie. Cups of awful tea, but hot. Sitting in the car park waiting for the fecking gates to open (yes, the prisoner misses his chains) before joining in the queue to Cundy Cross lights. God, just the whole experience. Oh, and before I forget, eating up the remnants of my grandson's sausage roll; he never can finish them.
Really missing the whole experience now. Once a red, always a red. Mostly missing that feeling when we play like we did against Chelsea and Brentford and your heart swells with pride. It’s just not the same at home and we don’t live in Barnsley so I always want to run round the streets and shout with elation, instead I wear my scarf and mask so people can see I support the super reds and we are really super.
I miss travelling to and from games with barnsley66. He has more knowledge in his little finger than most have in their entire body. I also miss catching up with jedi one and it's always wonderful to see nezbfc & his family, as well as Jay & his family.
Getting my kids off thier xboxes and outside. Its the only time i can stand up and shout come on, punching the air without getting arrested or funny looks. Seeing 10000 people erupt with joy all at the same time. I miss the whole pre match going to the ground routine from leaving the house to the feeling when you sit in your seat and look round and smile. The rocky music, seven nations army and timerider. Watching the Ponty roaring. Bovril and a Pie The two blokes who we have sat beside for the last 3 seasons, always speak but dont now each others names. Half time draw parnd a go woman, How much is it? When is it drawn?
Home games Mount. with family and friends. Percies pork pies. I take 3 dozen+ for regulars that have em on order. ( At cost. Once had someone say you can profit from friends. Tory ******) Match Same folk. Only with more friends and family. After Praise or grumble on way home. Away Travel with Hoyland reds. 1 big family. Everyone from near and far with no one left out. Great company. Meet up with other branches on occasion in port of call. 11am ish, Meet up with folk from port of call. Atmosphere at away game. ( Young uns do us proud. MOST of the time, Sometimes never letting up) Like to get back ASAP especially if we’ve lost. Off tut pub/club. Watch a band. What’s not to like. Except a visit to Carrow rd and still being in the vicinity of the stadium after the game . 1 1/2 hrs later.
It used to be a 400 mile round trip for me when we lived in Reading and I lived there nearly 25 years. Done some miles - even for home games and getting home at 3 o'clock in the morning on Evening games.
