Been watching their game. I know they are bottom for a reason but I honestly thought they would be better than that. Plenty of possession, but standing off all the time, almost scared to tackle. McGoldrick just doesn’t seem to have a striker’s instinct, and McBurnie when he came on, was playing so deep he was totally ineffective. They’re going down. I’m gutted we haven’t got a game against them in the cup - I think we’d beat them.
Done it again. Dipped 3-0 against West Ham United. Moyes doing a great job. Tonights win now puts the Hammers fourth in the table.
i don't think they're that bad of late, mcgoldrick should have scored 2 lack of the clinical touch missing and individual errors get punished will be interesting what players move on when they drop can't believe that's the same mcburnie who won poty in a 4 month stint here
It is like the are now resigned to their fate and actually given up. There was certainly no passion or drive tonight.
Love listening to the sheff utd fans on about budgets and transfers and how they cant compete. £25 million - Brewster £20 million - Mcburnie £20 million - Ramsdale £22 million - Berge £12 million - Mousset Thats off top of my head. Easily over £100 million since going in premier with players like Bogle, Robinson, Burke, Lowe etc etc. All that money and still need to start Sharp n McGoldrick.
Figures like that, just serve to underline the gap between the Championship and the Premiership. Don't know too much about Ramsdale, Berge or Mousset, but Mc Burnie was sent out on loan because he couldn't command a regular spot in the Swansea team and Brewster struggled to get regular starts at Liverpool.
Incredible figures those. And to think our record transfer is £1.5 million and that was 25 years ago. Staggering.
Phil Jagielka 38 Billy Sharp 35 David McGoldrick 33 Chris Basham 32 Enda Stevens 30 Lys Mousset 7 appearances all season Oh and Jack Rodwell. 2 appearances in 13 months.
Worst I’ve seen them play. Their form picked up when Fleck was fit but he’s got injured again & the teams 15th - 17th have all started picking points up which effectively killed off any hope they had left
They can pay transfer fees but it’s wages they don’t compete on. Not sure on Mousset’s age but the rest of them are long term investments who should do well for them whether it’s in the prem or more likely the championship. Don’t think Robinson was a good signing but I think most of the others are. McBurnie for example sounds a huge fee at £20m but that’s pretty much what a top quality, young championship striker would go for in a non-Covid world. He’ll either score a load of goals for them in the championship or they’ll recoup all or at least most of that fee. Boro paid about £15m for Assombolonga going back a few years whilst in the championship for example. Brentford just spent £10m on Toney from league one. It’s crazy but it’s the way it is.
Happy for West Ham I hope they make the Champions League. They have no better chance than this season and Lingard is a shrewd loan signing.
