They haven't spent anywhere near enough money to compete at that level. Losing Henderson has proved huge and they overachieved big time last season.

I wish we were found out like him, after what he's done for them.

He took a bunch of cloggers up, Billy Sharp in the premier league, Jesus christ.

Well and truly sussed out now, not such the tactical genius they thought he was.

How do you take a bunch of cloggers up if you're not an exceptional manager?

How do you nearly end up in Europe, like last season?

He never claimed to be a tactical genius.

What happened to us when we went up?

He is an exceptional manager. By virtue of his results. Swimming as a fish in a pool of sharks

Wilder wasted a **** load of money last summer. Paid £23m for the young lad from Liverpool who thus far hasn't done anything of note. They also paid £18m for Ramsdale from Bournemouth and he hasn't been anywhere near as good as Dean Henderson was for them the previous season. Wilder has to take his share of the blame for some of those signings and the money wasted. One thing he seems to have done this season is blame everyone but himself. Up until this season he has done a decent job there. I hate them as a club but don't mind Wilder too much.
Anyone think they will bounce straight back up or will they be another relegated club that really struggles?

I've got to big CW up. Worked miracles (as he did at Northampton) and deserves the adulation he's received. If they inevitability go down then I hope he keeps his job as i think he's earned and deserves it.

As much as it pains me to acknowledge Sheff Utds achievements I have to bow down to them. Incredible.

Edit - I wonder if they have struggled when the £20 million plus players joined? I get the impression CW might be better suited to the 'lads' rather than the 'names' ?

I think they'll bounce, they have good team spirit. As I said, losing Dean Henderson was a big loss.

20 million quid on a goalkeeper who couldn’t catch a cold and 2 x 20 million quids on strikers who sit on the bench!

Wasted a fortune on Mcburnie who hasn't been good enough either and lost their 12th man of the fans.

Harsh for me. He’s been promoted from every division. Hardly being ‘found out’, struggling in the PL.

Mcburnie has been injured for a lit if the season and will no doubt bang in the goals again next.

Despite his injuries he's still only scored 1 goal in 26 games this season. No value for money there.

Who is to say it's his choice of players they are buying?

Wilder is an excellent manager. Judge him overall, and again if and when they go down and he has Utd in the Championship. Just because some of his signings haven't worked is unfortunate for him but that happens. Again see what he does next season. Were all Wilson's PL signings exceptional? On balance Wilder has been trying to fight a nuclear war with a bow and arrow and he's still managed to occasionally hurt his enemy. I think some of us forget how tough the PL is.

I've said this before. If I was the manager I'd walk. If the club is spending £20 million on various players I'd no input or interest in then I'd do one.

When all said and some the players will probably be still there when CW isn't.

I can’t stand them, but it’s a bit barmy to suggest he’s not a good manager with all he’s achieved.

Chris is a really sound bloke and a terrific manager/coach. I think United overachieved last season, winning a lot of games by the odd goal. This season they've been on the other end of that, lost a lot of tight games. How he got the squad he did to the Premier League and playing how they did, says a lot about him.

As others point out, I think United have suffered behind closed doors. And, their big-money recruits have flopped massively.

But they'll not falter in this division next season. They're not basket cases. Assuming Wilder stays that is.

One of the few opposition managers who takes a minute out of his matchday to come and say hello to the opposition staff. Like Mick McCarthy does. And Neil Warnock. Old skool. They have that touch of class as people. On the sideline and during games? Completely different. Pure winners.

I hated United until I spent time with Wilder. Good folk at that club. Hecky and Redders there too.

Bubbles well and truly burst. Earlier in the season I thought thy were doing okay, just not getting the rub of the green. For the impressive defeated streak they never really got turned over by anyone. Expected them to put a run together after the Newcastle and Man Utd wins, but if anything, they look worse now than at the start of the season. Will be one of life’s ironies if they qualify for Europe next season via the FA cup whilst being relegated, after seeing their stellar 3/4 of a season wiped out by Covid lockdown last year
