The problem we face more than anything now is India getting going with the bat. Get into them now the odd twenty or so if that won't matter. Might as well get into them.
Our batsmen do miss an embarrassing amount of straight balls against spinners that aren't turning it.
They’re all playing for spin when most balls haven’t spun. If it does spin it’ll likely go past the bat anyway so worth playing for the straight un.
I know it's never been easy to win in India, and India are a fantastic team(and we've hamstrung ourself (rightly or wrongly)with the rotation policy), but that was one of the most inept batting performances I've seen in a long time. Barring 2 or 3 players, the lack of batting fundamentals is staggering! What is one of the first thing your taught when batting against spin(barring the front defensive)? Play the line of the ball. If it spins, most of the time it does too much. If the bowler gets one right and raps you on the pads or gets an edge, then fair enough. If most of these LBW's had done that, they would still be standing. As it is, they are doing most of the spinners work for them...
Excellent post. It was always likely they’d beat us but this performance is pathetic, no excuses whatsoever.
Another good lad Anthony McGrath real darn to earn lad . Wish he was art there. He would give it a go
It's another dreadful batting performance, awful technique and decision making by the vast majority of players. Those commenting on players playing for spin have it bang on and its an issue we've had for a long time. The best batsmen of years gone by didn't think every ball would spin. They played straight and late and with soft hands. We've been batting this way for a long time and it's seen us skittled for very low totals against some very average spin attacks around the world. It is turning though, so it's conditioning the brain to not follow the ball or to play for something you don't know is going to happen. Very very poor and I think this is an innings + victory for India in 3 and a bit days.
