the clues in the title its self indulgent ,your title is saying us everyday plebs can not see the things you see ,as in you will be in the minority, the whole thing causes you to play devils advocate every time
It is exactly how I describe it. Everything else is made up in the heads of the readers. If that is your view of me, if I were you, I would stop reading it. You are reading things that just are not there.
I said what I wanted to say. The goal comes from a bad error in the Stoke defence. The reason for that error is speculation.
I've never understood why some people want to disappear up their own arse. Tonight I watched a second tier game, played by quality footballers, levels I could never dream of. Our manager/coach, has a tactical brain I have never encountered before. He adapts to the opposition in the simplest of ways. The ultimate anglo-saxon! Just as we were coached at senior school. Don't **** around in defence. Play the game, with your own skill in their half. Attack and love it. Bob McLintock, Mr. Mellor.
I understand what you written mate I agree. Put it this way no one will want us in the playoffs you reds.
I think your general sentiment in this post is too broad a brush and not at all true. I would actually go as far to say that you're playing the victim card a little too much in this instance and exchange. There are occasions where it may seem that some posters like to disagree with you ('have it in for me' is too strong a phrase), but you deliberately pitch your post as being a minority view. When you have a minority view you're going to have people disagree with you - it comes with the territory and believe me I should know all about that over the last 6-9 months! However, it's my opinion and no doubt the opinion of others, that you've now dug such a whole for yourself with previous predictions and assessments that you're actually unwilling to praise the team to the levels they deserve. In Callum Brittain and Callum Styles we literally have two of the best wing backs outside of the Premier League. It isn't even up for debate (of course it is but I'm just making a point). Yes you can find faults and weaknesses with both, you can find reasons why they might struggle if they went to a bigger club, but that should be the sub headline to the MASSIVE HEADLINE FACT that we've landed on two terrific young men who have quality in abundance. You don't seem to want to celebrate that for some reason. Four wins in a row. One point off the playoffs with a game in hand. Have you tried to let that sink in? By all means analyse the game, share your thoughts on where we could do better, but maybe start sounding like you're enjoying the fact we find our club in this lofty position after years of being a yoyo club and struggling greatly with this division.
I hope you continue to post reports as you see the game. My view is that vertical football is fine when you are winning, but not so great when results slip. I'm relieved not to be in relegation scrap and top marks to the coach and players for putting such a massive effort in. But it sure ain't pretty and there's no harm admitting that.
You thinking your posts are objective is quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever read. Your minority reports are detailed, often well thought out, quite often hugely flawed though sometimes very accurate - but they are your opinions. They are views. They are not factual.
Could someone define pretty football. I enjoy watching MCFC. Never thought of playing that way because their squad is the perfect storm. Sublime. Better than ever before. But really, do we play football that way? Our culture is beer, potatoes and fighting. Pep is red wine and sea food. Discuss.
Personally I think its good that someone is willing to stick their head above the parapet and criticise the team. There are still faults and there will always be faults even if BFC win the Champions League in 3 years time!! People do have a tendency to overreact when results are very good and conversely when results are very poor. If RR has a view and explains it in a polite, non-condescending way then he should be respected for it and not ridiculed or insulted. Alternative views are always worth listening to if expressed well and respectfully as they make one think. If we can't think we're either thick or dead.
No, please don't stop RR. I don't always agree with your analysis, but do like to read them. Don't be too negative at times, just look at the energy and workrate and skill for our 2nd goal. All you wanted to say was how crap Stoke were. Stoke weren't crap, we were just too good for them
Keep them coming. Even if I disagree with your take some weeks, I do enjoy the read and the different perspective. It's food for thought and an interesting part of my reading week.
There's no way that our current back three have the skill set to play out from the back on this standard of pitch against the standard of opposition we face every week. We've seen it fail over the last 18 months in spectacular and devastating fashion. With this in mind, I am more than happy to minimise risk in our back 3 and play our football in the 'right' area of the pitch - where our more skilful players can do serious damage (as they are currently doing). As I've said previously, I used to have my fingers nails down to nowt as Collins/Radlinger passed it across his 6 yard box to Anderson, who played it sidewards to Diaby/Sollbauer who then passed it back and then we either tried a risky pass to put the midfield under pressure or cleared it anyway. I would much rather play football in the final third.
Every one of these reports is styled 'minority report'. But the author surely can't know it's going to be a 'minority' view in advance - that is unless he sets out for it to be a minority view, come what may. That makes the author somewhat of a contrarian. As such, is the aim truly to 'report' on a match and set up a genuine discussion, or is it to seek some sort of reflected glory for the author? "Barnsley v XXXX - As I Saw It" might be a less presumptuous title, and might allow for the fact that sometimes someone might actually agree with the author! I can't help reflecting though, that having argued for financial rectitude (which we appear to have - as well as a playoff-challenging position in the league) Red Rain is now complaining about the playing style! I don't see Valerien changing it when it is proving so successful. Why would he? Here's a thing though! I was musing this morning. We stand one point off the playoffs with a game in hand. Should we finish in the top six, we are capable on our day of beating any team in this league. What if we won the playoffs? What would the owners do then? They would surely have won the lucky jackpot much earlier than they anticipated. Would they spend to try and protect the new-found riches and status? Or would they say "we must remain solvent!" come what may? Cue all the old debates!
I would like Red Rain to continue the reports as they are a good read and are something different on here. I don't reply to his post but I do read it. I don't reply because I'm not going to change his mind and to debate isn't really the point of the minority report. Getting at red rain personally because of his report is the wrong part of all this. So please keep posting the Minority Report but can everyone else if you don't like it don't read it, respond in a decent way or don't respond at all. Put Red Rain on ignore if his reports wind you up. I'll keep reading them and enjoy doing so.
