I thought Jackson left for more opportunities to just play football - always liked him, just probably wasn't good enough at Championship level.
When they took Winnall from us, it was a bad deal for Barnsley and a bad deal for Wednesday. They underpaid on transfer fee which screwed us due to his contract situation but paid for too much in wages to him. The only winner, financially, from the deal was Winnall and his agent, although it was a terrible move football wise. Remember at the time they had a strike force including Hooper, Nuhiu, Joao, Fletcher, Forrestieri then I think Rhodes signed afterwards. It was absolutely mental to sign so many forwards without signing the midfielders to supply them. They’ve got exactly what they deserve.
@Gally @Loko the Tyke Can we merge all the owlstalk threads into a big owlstalk megathread? There's some brilliant comedy. I've just been reading their Radio Sheff thread and it seems they don't like the new presenters, someone from outside that doesn't arse lick them like previous presenters "The two new clowns who took over are absolutely gash. One last night said he was going to use the "M" word as though it was serious. I have a question, how can 2 big city clubs who have averaged over 30000 3 times in the last 50 years be called massive."
I thought he was given a poor shot at a run of games. Our results when he was in the side were favourable. A good player in a good side. Liked him a lot.
I hope we don't show them their bank accounts. Started researching yesterday for a possible article. All those who joined championship clubs just about initially doubled and in many cases trebled for what you'd estimate was their earnings for us at the time. But apart from Conor and Alfie (might have forgot one) look where they are now.......... Different strokes for different folks.
Even greats like Hignett, Ward, Shipperley and Redfearn didn't show the same form elsewhere. Only one's that did were Liddell, De Zeeuw and Eaden.
I could sit here all night completing a list. Just off the top of my head Currie Tiler Howard didn't. Taggart Beresford Holgate Stones did.
I’m also a little disappointed at the criticism of Jackson. He looked a decent pro that only moved on to try and get more games.
Everyone exept hecky saw jackson shouldn't have been a regular in the championship. He left in the end after been behind lindsay and pinnock all season his contract ran out and he knew he wouldn't get in the 1st team so went to get regular football. Nice lad didn't leave for money reasons though.
