Agreed mate. Never want a club to go out of existence. Especially one that's providing so much comedy value at the moment
Athersley Rec v AFC Wednesday in the northern counties East league...20000 daft dee dars trying to get in to watch. I’d pïss myself.
But who’d buy them? They don’t even own their £60 million pound stadium! They have no real assets in their team. They have high running costs, and little chance of bouncing back quickly without a massive investment. I can’t see people queuing up to buy it, they’d get a better return chucking their money in the Don!
As I said on a previous forum. I like to better them to banter with work colleagues etc but bankruptcy NO. Its like someone's family member dying.
Somebody will step in. They will however have to face some harsh realities for a few seasons, just like others that have got into trouble, like Leeds, Bolton, Pompey, etc. No one is going to keep pouring money down a black hole.
Surely if every Wednesday fan donated a pound they would have a billion pound at least, can not understand the problem
The Wednesday players need to take a pay cut , We have a winner ,had to cut my original reply to announce it
The thread title got my hopes up I would piss myself if they had to start again at the bottom of the Football pyramid and could no longer play at Swilsboro. The comedy value from that would be immense.
Even if he sells "The Chancer" (as I now call him) will find some way of maintaining an income stream from his beloved Washday. Possibly by leasing back the Stadium, or some other devious tactic.
