I love the success we're having on the field currently, but the old fear of the 'banana-skin' game is now front and central, and it's been a while since I've felt it quite like this. Today has everything that would bring expectation of a home win - form team at home vs one struggling, and it's the first of several against teams near the bottom where we'll have similar expectations. Life as a Barnsley fan is so-often spent in the underdog position that it really is bizarre to be on the other side of it. I know that the coach and squad will be far from complacent about things, and the expectation is more within the fanbase than anywhere else, but I need to get used to this quickly as we'll have more of these to come before the season ends. Today is probably worst of all, as I desperately want them to achieve the historic 7 wins in a row. I need to give my head a wobble. Not sure how I can simultaneously be loving every minute of this run, being desperate for kick-off and almost fearful to watch it, but I've not had pre-match nerves like this for ages. Needed to get it off my chest. Deep breaths. We can do this.....
I think we might be a little less nervous approaching the last game after a 21 game winning streak! So maybe 15 times...
TBH we've had a few of these this season and I've kept expecting the wheels to come off (I've followed the Reds for a long time!) but on every occasion these young lads have proved me wrong. It can't go on forever, but they do seem to be able to deal with every eventuality. Long may it continue.COYR
Feel the same Curt...plus I really cant stand Birmingham after being hospitalised at the hands of one of their "fans" at the NEC of all places!. Not even at a match!! Also remember beating them in the play off semis at their place and their fans were dreadful. Wish we were having this chat in the East Stand Curt. Get a brown paper bag for those deep breaths!!!! CMAAAAAAHN!!!!.
Must admit I’m more worried about this than some recent games never comfortable when we are favourites
Never in doubt! A few days to savour the win before rinsing and repeating the same emotions on Wednesday. #YouReds
