Are they his signings though? I get that it’s a lot of money spent so it’s an easy assumption to say he should be doing better, but it’s £120 million on players that generally aren’t Premier League level. If they are his signings, then fair enough, he deserves some of the blame.
Lots of teams will be sniffing around him, or their fanbases in particularly. But unless that club has been playing with a high press of their own for a while, they'd have to pay a hell of a lot of money to tempt him. Not sure who Sheff Utd think would be more likely to get them promoted out of the Championship than Wilder.
Yes they are all his signings. He's been in charge since 2016. Those mentioned are from the last two seasons.
I could be wrong here but I don’t think that’s what he meant. I think he meant that the signings are coming from “above” Wilder.
https://www.oddschecker.com/football/manager-specials/sheffield-united/next-permanent-manager Hecky the favourite as the cheap option. With his poor record he would be very lucky to get it. Lampard is on the list and Howe, both of which they have no chance. Wagner would be an awful choice his style I wouldn't wish even on them. I hope it goes to Terry to give us another reason to dislike that club.
Guessed this might happen after his last couple of interviews. I dislike the blunts immensely but admire what Wilder did on limited resources. He got the absolute best out of mediocre players and made them into premiership players last season. As seems to be the case quite often now their unique style has been found out and it was this that gave them an advantage last season and enabled them to enjoy their success. Chris looked knackered over the last month or so so I think it's a wise move by him. 12 months to recharge his batteries, get his mojo back, and he could then be the man to take the newly formed AFC Wednesday 2022 into the Sheffield premier league .
Old Princy McPrince was on Radio Sheffield a few weeks ago saying that Wilder would be manager next season whether they were relegated or not.
He gets more compo being sacked now than at the end of the season or 5 games into next season with no points , they’ve done him a favour
Should have sacked him in the transfer window or stuck with him for next season. Teams that go straight back up are generally the ones that keep some continuity. Norwich being a good example this season, Bournemouth would have been doing better too if they'd stuck with Howe.
