Wonder if he’d ever considered the Barnsley job when it was available. I don’t know if circumstances allowed and ever came together.
I also don't remember seeing any of his teams playing with the energy and intensity of our current one, but I get what he means. And he's right, other teams don't like it up them. Teams that play tiki taka don't like the press, teams that are more direct don't like that we are more effective at it than they are.

When he signed Deane , Aghana & Bob Booker etc , Utd were very high energy & full on team who gave everything & Warnock was & still is a great motivator , they were direct but could play , no doubt about that .
I've posted about him many times. Decent winger in the 4th tier, who could get on the scoresheet. His teams are "robust", but like "Mick's" they have quality. Great manager for a team on limited resources, or in a crisis.
