I looked at that. I thought I'd stick with favourite (Appreciate It) as it has beaten both Ballyadam and Blue Lord in the past. The unknown for me was Metier that's the reason I backed that too.

I watched it run last time out and wasn't that impressed and it doesn't put much height between itself and it's obstacles. (Low over the fences).

Got the free bet on Ballyadam, as it's got the words "Ball" and "Adam". What's not to like :)

    Well, seeing as you ask.............

In the first I'm with Metier and Ballyadam ante post, although there seems a lot of confidence behind Appreciate It. In the Boodle's (4.15) I go with Cabot Cliffs and Homme Public. The latter is interesting in so far as he finished only a neck behind Houx Gris at levels last October but today he receives three pounds. He won by 6.5 lengths at Market Rasen in the meantime. For the remaining races, it looks very much a favourite's day to me, and I have Honeysuckle at 9/4 and Shishkin/Concertista doubled. Great day's racing!

Not the best day to pick to get the car serviced today, but I've got that one all sorted remotely! There's also the cricket to consider, but I think I might have t'moange on with that if we lose the toss. At least that would simplify things! :)

OK, just for a laugh and bear in mind I know nothing about Horse Racing
1:20 Ballyadam ("Ball" and "Adam" Hammill)
1:55 Captain Guinness (I like Guinness)
2:30 Alnadam ("Adam" Hammill - again)
3:05 Goshen (nearly says "Josh Scowen")
3:40 Indefatigable (the Barnsley style at the moment)
4:15 Hell Red (need I say more)
    4:50 Galvin (Ronnie)

Some of us are being expected to work Mr Kaht with all this excitement going on. Talk about unreasonable expectations!

Ah, work! A distant memory! But I tried not to let it get in the way of racing when I did, mind! ;)

Probably the worst first day of racing at The Festival I can remember in a long time.

1.20 - Fav should win, but no way can you back odds on. Metier hasn't beaten anything worthwhile. Ballyadam held by the fav, chance lays with the better ground. Soaring Glory just a handicapper. Blue Lord open to improvement and a fair each way poke.

1.55 - Field decimated. Shiskin likeliest winner but no value. Allmankind will probably set it up for a finisher. Franco De Port best off a strong pace, so may be value. If you fancied Energumene then you'll have to back Captain Guiness as it was upside the former when falling late time out.

2.30 - A bit more like it. Vintage Cloud run well in this race before and horses traditionally come back well in this. One For The Team very interesting. Can't really split any of those at the top of the market, but not against any of them.

3.05 - There's about 3 or 4 front runners in this. Not So Sleepy will blast out. Silver Streak up there too. Goshen a talented head case but again a front runner. Honeysuckle will be near the pace cos stays further. Should set it up for a closer. Epatante the most talented but had had injury issues. Sharjahfaioed in the race twice and this is stronger. Abracadabras could be the one off a strong pace on good ground.

I'm not really interested in any of the other races, but will probably back Indefatigable wag way and Next Destination in the last.

    ---

    1.20 - Blue Lord
    1.55 - Captain Guiness
2.30 - One For The Team and Vintage Cloud both each way.
    3 05 - Abracadabras (William Hill paying 5 places each way, 10s)

    That's me.

It's won its only three races since at 1/6, 1/3 and 1/7 so you can't have made much!
