Yes, with the club through the academy from very young ages (both spent years at the club) and gone on to achieve great things, establishing themselves as Premiership footballers.
Because they've just scored against us in the Championship play off final, denying us a 2nd season in the top flight in nearly 140 years - I'm afraid l wouldn't sit there and clap.
Still do not understand why you would boo a legend for doing his job , infact I think booing anyone is childish & pathetic , if you have lost a match then look at our own team & analyse what we could have done differently but if you cannot hack defeat then you have a problem .
I am a sore loser, a bit like our team - well l hope they are! I've no feelings for him, we were on the verge of the play offs and he jumped ship to a team in the same division, albeit a bigger team but they weren't going up that season - he saw the money like most. To be fair l predicted he would be sold back to the championship when Villa got promoted but he lasted a bit longer than l predicted. He's ended up a side stepper like most who have left these past 10 years.
He's the only one I could think of, except maybe De Zeeuw, but then I don't know if either of them played us again, definitely not in a significant match. Redfearn went to Charlton after we went down, then they went down and he stayed in the Prem with Bradford, and was about 35 by that point, though I know he played til he was about 42. I think De Zeeuw joined someone who'd just been promoted as we went down from the Prem too, or possibly at the end of the Bassett season, it's all a while ago now!
Arjan de Zeeuw never played for Bassett, he left to join Wigan just after Hendrie got sacked. He then played for Wigan and Portsmouth in the Prem
Thought it was something like that, in the days before windows! A bit of an underrated player for me, doesn't get listed in many best XI's but I thought he was bloody brilliant. I was only about 12 though.
