been speaking about this last couple of weeks. I said to my lad that the only thing we are missing to compete in the top 6 is getting the lucky and 50/50 decisions in our favour. I think we go one. Unfortunately with Mowatt we probably got one against too.
Never a pen. There was contact with his arm, but nothing like the one at forest that Ismael compared it with, when Helik was dragged down. Yet we weren’t given the blatant one, and given that one tonight. Odd game.
I think saying he ‘had hold’ is a little disingenuous - it was very soft and I was very surprised it was given. The kind we generally get given against us and not for. Are you honestly saying if that was given against us you’d be in full agreement?
After watching the highlights on Quest. It is clear why the ref gave the pen. He pulled his arm. Anywhere else on the pitch it would be a free kick.
I’ve still no idea why it was given. Ifollow showed a replay that didn’t show anything. They also showed a replay of the Styles booking that didn’t show anything as it was out of shot.
The simple philosophy for me is that while ever we have inconsistent referees and multiple bad decisions against us, I’ll take these soft ones with open arms, welcome them to our cause and even celebrate rather than argue whether it was or wasn’t. The day I see refs and the officiating improve to a significantly more consistent level where these incidents are every few months not every few days then I might take a more sympathetic stance. Right now I’m surprised that Sky don’t have a weekly highlights show, 2 hrs of poor officiating decisions. After all they even have refs now as pundits there are so many officiating talking points.
Absolute penalty 100% Grabs his sleeve/arm then pulls him by his wrist. 1 camera angle showed it clearly.
Nailed on Penalty. He had been pulling Helik around all the game. Any Penalty in favour of the Reds is nailed on.
I’d have been livid if had, had one given against us like that, but we have had them given against us so...... The sending off for me was ridiculous , he just seems to slip Ashe goes into the challenge. When you think back to midfielders like Alan Little and Gwyn Thomas you have to wonder how they would have gone on!
definite pen for me. Yes Helik exaggerates the contact and goes down a little easily to say the least but he is trying to get onto the loose ball to tap it home and their big defender clearly grabs his arm with two hands and pulls him back therefore impeding Helik and denying a goal scoring opportunity.
