If he carries on developing as a player, I can easily see him being transferred for £40 million at some point in his career. Just imagine how good he could be once he's in his mid 20's.
Lads gonna have a career way beyond our level if he carries on developing, it would be nice if we could enjoy it for a couple of years first though.
We need to tie him down now, he's going to be out of our reach in a few months. He could be sold for £15m plus next season..
If Sheff U paid £20m for Mcburnie you'd have to say Dike will eventually be worth much more than that. Don't get me wrong I rated Mcburnie but the raw attributes Dike has are a cut above.
It would definitely make huge business sense to sign him in the summer if we can , even if it's full well in the knowledge that he'll be sold for five times more in January. Obviously if we go up it's a completely different matter.
Don't know the in and outs of the deal, he could turn it down knowing that someone else will come in with more money.
A bit concerned about the mis-match comments being made by Dane and Orlando. Dane says we have an agreed price option to buy in the summer, but Orlando seem to have slapped 20 million dollars on him. There also seems to be a suggestion that he could be recalled by Orlando in April for the restart of the season in the US. I could see this ending with our not getting Dike, unless Dane can swing it as he says it has been agreed. I would have thought that the best we could do would be to stick to our agreed fee and offer a 50% sell-on, which would benefit both sides. Anything better than that would be dreamland. Those were two top quality goals from DK last night and would not have been out of place in the Premiership - the first being about spring and muscle to outjump several defenders and the second an instinctive first time shot from an excellent cross into the box. He's starting to prove the value we thought he had, but can we secure him permanently for the rest of this season and then from the start of next?
shows he getting up to speed that cross from Brittain was travelling, he missed one similar at Bristol City
I think the $20 million for 80% share of him that they quote equates to them having a 20% sell-on in our terminology.
DK & Toney probably the most valuable strikers outside of the Premiership. & worth more than half of them in it.
I'd sign him purely as an investment even if we couldn't afford to keep him long. The problem is any footballer is one bad injury away from that investment being ruined though I'm not sure how insurance workd on this.
I'd love to be proved wrong but I reckon there isn't a snowball in hell's chance of us getting him on a permanent deal. The lad is absolute quality and destined for the very top. As long as he stays to see us through the play offs.......
